Only saw a few minutes but Kofi was just jogging down the court and drifting in the lane on missed shots (by others)

He needs to be a high energy rebounding hustle machine if he wants to play in NBA. He only played 15 minutes so its not like he was tired.

Also needs to drop about 30 lbs and get into sprint level shape.

30 lbs? He doesn't have that much fat to drop.. But I guess that's the issue. He may never be quick enough in today's NBA

A more athletic Brad Sellers?
There is no way in hell that he is more athletic than Brad Sellers!!! Brad Sellers problem was that he lacked an aggressive attitude on the court,he was too laid back. He never got the most out of his talent

Kofi has to change his mindset from dominant post man to hyper energy rebounder defender.

He does not crash the offensive boards
He does not try to block shots
He plays too far off the shooter - no drop coverage in NBA, everybody can nail the open jumper

He ran the court better than Tuesday but the other Utah bigs (other than Tako Fall) were flying around like Coleman Hawkins

Kofi needs to own the defensive boards - if the ball does not come to him, he needs to go get it.
Kofi needs to work with trainer on becoming at least an average NBA shot blocker
Kofi needs to get into much better shape.

Those are all things he could also have done better at Illinois. Big man in the middle worked but if he put his body on someone for rebounding he would have had better numbers. He was a good defender of his man but below average help defender. What you are suggesting is not easily or quickly changed.

Yes- he doesn't go after rebounds nearly as hard as Utah's other big man Cabocolo who is a much more fluid athlete and more skilled at shooting, dribbling and passing. If Kofi gets the ball on offense within 5 feet of the hoop and has time to gather himself( which takes a long time) he is hard to stop even at the summer league level of talent(higher level than college). He did play decent individual defense even, surprisingly, on the perimeter but his crowd rebounding ability is sub-par. David Roddy outcompeted him for a rebound last night. Sadly, I don't think he's gonna make Utah's roster. Kessler is their 1st round draft pick and IMO Cabocolo is a much better player than Kofi currently. I'm hoping I'm wrong but looking like G-league or Europe for the nice young man. Maybe in a couple of years, given his relative inexperience with the game, he can work his way onto an NBA team by improving his shooting, offensive versatility, ball handling and passing, and lateral movement on D, and lastly his motor towards rebounding on both ends. I'm rooting for him.

These are all effort hustle things. Kofi didn't have to do it in HS and college because his low post scoring ability trumped everything else.

he has remarkable agility and coordination for a big guy. He just needs to decide that every rebound on offense and defense is his.

check out these vidoes of Kofi juggling the ball with his feet. The hand eye coordination is great!

Does anyone know if Giorgi is on any summer league team?

He did play in the summer league (or a summer league?) last year and is currently on the Grand Rapids Gold roster. Would he play in the summer league if he is already on a G League team roster? I don't know.

Dalen Terry will not take any tick away from Ayo. He plays out of control and has no jump shot. There is a reason why Billy Donovan kept Ayo out of summer league. Ayo is going to be fine.
Why did they pick Terry then?

Probably not? Question I'm not sure about is whether his G League contract is multi year or if he's a free agent? I'd guess the latter. Not sure he's actually on the Gold roster, think that info on their website is all from last season and haven't seen anything about a new deal or anything, plus I'd assume G League rosters really don't get set until after summer league.

Terry is a project with tons of potential that can guard 1-3. Couple years away. But NBA is about versatility this days, less positionless. So it's not necessarily Ayo he's replacing. Could be Ball if he stays injured, Derozan if he moves on, Coby White. Who knows. Like Jimmy Butler early on, at least he will be energy and defense off the bench until hopefully his offensive game develops more.
