Randle was a stud. He was also hurt a lot.Who was that guy wearing Brian Randle's uniform and making plays all over the court?! I don't remember anything like that from Brian!

Thank you for sharing. What would Iowa vs Illinois highlights be without some nice flops by one of the Hawkeyes? How about a Warren Carter comp for Amani Hansberry?
Sorry, boredom setting in at work and I needed a distraction. Had a difficult time finding highlights but came across this little gem:
65 years? You must have started following the Illini while in your Mother's womb!Watching this game's highlights and the play of Randle always brings me back to wondering if the 2005 championship game would have turned out different with Randle not being injured and had him playing at the level of this game ....
What ifs are what has driven me crazy with the Illini program , but that drive was a short one as I have been crazy about the Illini teams for over 65 years now.....I really really have been........
lol.........I'll be 71 in about a month from now..........5-6 years old being an Illini shooting baskets in my backyard ................fun times65 years? You must have started following the Illini while in your Mother's womb!
Tristan Thompson type?Hansberry - strong defender, rebounding machine, lives in the paint
Warren Carter was a no show till his senior year. Had good size 6'10' some nice offensive moves.
I want another James Augustine / Kenny Battle / Roger Powell / Kenny Norman
Should be no surprise as WCIA and Tom Schoendienst started broadcasting a few Illini games for the first time around 1955. Govoner Vaughn and Manny Jackson arrived in 1956 and entered the starting lineup as sophs for the 1957-58 season. There may even be a few Illini fans still around who saw the Whiz Kids play!! Those games were sponsored by Chesty Potato Chips...."the food its fun to eat!!"65 years? You must have started following the Illini while in your Mother's womb!
Keep watching 47 as you are the same age as me and I have been watching the Illini since they first game on wcia. That would be when we were 8 years old.Should be no surprise as WCIA and Tom Schoendienst started broadcasting a few Illini games for the first time around 1955. Its been only 62 for me, and I'm older than you! Best collection of athletes I've seen in a loooong while!Watching this game's highlights and the play of Randle always brings me back to wondering if the 2005 championship game would have turned out different with Randle not being injured and had him playing at the level of this game ....

I would like to know if any poster ever saw the Whiz Kids play? Likely to be around 90 or older but possible. It would have to have been in person...and back then, that was a really tough ticket to get your hands on....especially for a kid.Keep watching 47 as you are the same age as me and I have been watching the Illini since they first game on wcia. It was the right move - Lou was basically a .500 coach in conference play by that point; Kruger was a pretty clear upgradeTrue, but Lou was 64 when the whiners drove him out at Illinois claiming that he was too old to recruit the (then) current players.
Enjoy...Yup, he could dunk.
Ask Mr. Killingsworth.
Somebody find it and pull it up.
Yea...back then I remember making a comment to a couple friends that BR was going to be one of the top 3 best Illini players of all time...a mat punch and couple years later they were quick to remind me of that statement
He certainly had flashes of greatness. Any many times left me frustrated. Incredible athlete with all the tools.Yea...back then I remember making a comment to a couple friends that BR was going to be one of the top 3 best Illini players of all time...a mat punch and couple years later they were quick to remind me of that statement
The good news is that he has had great success. Not all we hoped for but he's a great alumni. He certainly had flashes of greatness. Any many times left me frustrated. Incredible athlete with all the tools.
Just one of many reasons I temper my optimism until they take the court.
Absolutely! I love the guy!!The good news is that he has had great success. Not all we hoped for but he's a great alumni.
