Take this with a gigantic grain of salt, but I heard it's not looking good for him to be able to enroll. Honestly, i hope my source is wrong. Is Perrin on campus yet?

Immaturity of skills???? The skills that you have not put together aren't real skills???? You must of been Socrates in another life!!!I really think the confidence issue came from his immaturity of skills. How many times have you seen him take the ball to the basket by himself or after the P&R? He did improve on that by the end of the season but that was not good enough for Houston. He was trying to put it together but still needed time. Same token for his 3 pointer. It’s there but not quite arrived yet. Have you seen Ayo’s mid range pull up and Goode’s 3 pointers? That’s what I call skills. The skills you have not put together aren’t real skills.
Now your profile name is coming to light…He began doing that in late Feb/early March. A clear, discontinuous increase in his game occurred. Hope it continues this fall.

What I heard could be wrong. But there's a reason he's not on on the official roster as of yet
Hopefully they’ll get it worked out. Thanks for sharing and for boldly going where no one wants to go.What I heard could be wrong. But there's a reason he's not on on the official roster as of yet

There's also a whole bunch of hoops involved with getting visas, and the process can take a long time right now depending on the local rules and conditions. I am in the process of sponsoring a VISA for someone coming from a similar country and getting an in-person appointment to have the visa issued has been like a 45-60 day wait time because of staffing and COVID protocols. What I heard could be wrong. Frustrating, but makes sense. I suppose I wouldn't be surprised if Perrin experienced similar issues given how last minute his recruitment was.
Given the number of international students attending the university we have a veritable army of folks working to grease the skids. As you noted, though, this recruitment was very last-minute and the kid was out of his home country for a chunk of the time since his commitment. There's also a whole bunch of hoops involved with getting visas, and the process can take a long time right now depending on the local rules and conditions. I work at a similarly sized university. Depending on the type of visa and country of origin, there is only so much skid-greaaing you can do. Although I imagine he's coming on one of the faster visas to get, it's still last minute.Given the number of international students attending the university we have a veritable army of folks working to grease the skids. It also may not be the problem at all. Who knows?
Lol. The hazards of studying engineering for six years. (BSME ‘88, MSME ‘90.) My only affiliation with Altgeld Hall is having enjoyed studying in the library for many an hour, and having had a memorable upper-level math course in a basement classroom my first semester freshman year. “In over my head” suddenly became a very clear term that September 38 yrs ago.Now your profile name is coming to light…
”discontinuous”.
Are you affiliated with altgeld?
I graduated math @UI in 88.
