I watched a full game of highlights on Gibbs-Lawhorn playing an AAU game and came away very unimpressed. He did score 31 points but against mediocre defense and all on drives and free throws. Did not make a jump-shot in the game. Almost every time he drove he ended up on the floor. Not only is he short (6-0) but slightly built and not terribly fast. The guy he was guarding scored 39 points. Hi highlight film showed him shooting 3 pointers as set shots from his chest-- he won't get those off.Gibbs-Lawhorn must really like our style of play, our staff and our development scheme. I fully get that '23 PG is up in the air right now, but if Skky bolts, Gibbs-Lawhorn is virtually a mortal lock as a take, right?
Are we going to get Amani?
Not much defense paid in AAU games. Probably better take would be from Monteverde Academy games vs. powerhouses like Oak Hill, Pacific Prep, AZ Compass Prep, La Luminere etc. These games are against other 4 and 5 star recruits and the teams badly want to win. I looked at Monteverde Academy 2022 season stats but only found a few games.I watched a full game of highlights on Gibbs-Lawhorn playing an AAU game and came away very unimpressed. Didn't play passable defense, had loose handles, had his pocket picked on several occasions. He didn't appear to be of our team's character, and didn't have the capacity to fill out and grow. Doesn't fit our current team's profile.
We could do much better!

I remember when this was Ayo.His highlight film showed him shooting 3 pointers as set shots from his chest-- he won't get those off.
Man, I'd love to see some Blues Brothers from an Illini game back in the day.
With Penn State coming in late with that HUGE NIL $$ ... Who knows ...
I was kinda hoping you knew ...
He is 6'5" though....I remember when this was Ayo.
Hopefully, he doesn't call from the golf course.Shrewsberry is pulling out all the stops now. Watch out!
Hopefully, he doesn't call from the golf course.

Someone posted that Penn State NIL stuff yesterday … I thought it was quite funny …
I’ve been telling you guys for months that Hansberry was coming. Nothings changed …
Sources tell me Brad has the celebratory cigar ready to rock & roll … I am sources …
Yeah I think it's funny too because Penn State NIL ain't going anywhere but football and wrestling. Basketball is playing 4th fiddle behind football, wrestling, and hockey over in Happy Valley.Someone posted that Penn State NIL stuff yesterday … I thought it was quite funny …

Well Penn State did just land a 4 star in Carey Booth.
... and the crowd goes mild
It’s a good thing their back up option plays the same position as Amani. Thanks for the info. Hope we get him! With Penn State coming in late with that HUGE NIL $$ ... Who knows ...

Fully expect us to lose legacy recruits down the road. It just happens. Easy for fans to say "of course he wants to follow in dad's footsteps."Legacy recruit … Would be like us losing DMFW … Would never happen …
Although it’s an easier sell to fans bringing in a top 100 recruit after missing on Hansberry …
