I agree 💯 with "pru". Nebby may score 2x , maybe 2 big plays. But our rushing and red zone offense improves this week and TDV throws for 250 yards 2td's. 36-16.! I l l I N I... we rush for 210 yards 2 Td's...

I had a dream last night the game was tied 63-63 in the 4th, and with 1 minute left we kicked a FG to go up 66-63. The Huskers got the ball back with one minute to go and Witherspoon got a pick 6 to seal the deal. My prediction 73-63 good guys. ;)

I think Illinois' offense and defense are in synch. The offense uses up large amounts of time allows defense to play less on the field. The defense shuts down the offense and doesn't allow big plays. Results in lower scoring games, especially first half. A 10 point lead by Illinois will seem insurmountable. Nebraska was very explosive against Purdue even though only having the ball for 17.5 minutes in the game. Purdue defensive is pretty weak as seen against Nebraska and Wisconsin.

We will expose this on Saturday. Neb’s lines are very vulnerable. We should be able to run and run at a good clip. Ball control will be our goal as in any game, but tomorrow, I can see CB go off for over 200 and McCray for near 50-100. We play like we have over the past several weeks and we will be 7-1. BB will have us focused as the players and coaches have said all week that nothing has been accomplished yet And its a 1 game at a time mentality. But you are correct, with our team, a 10 point lead will be insurmountable for this Nebraska team to come back from.

Here's to an Illinois win tomorrow (no turnovers and definitely no injuries please!)

On a side note, Nebraska has some really weird goofy looking mascots that rival the creepiness of Purdue Pete lol

One more sleep until we bring on the cornjerkers. As before any game, the butterflies are there, but it’s always a bit different when we are having our best season in a decade (thus far, with a win tomorrow it will be 20 years).

Through 7 games Johnny Newton, a defensive tackle(!), leads the Illini in tackles (37). Like what? Keith Randolph is tied for 3rd with 30 tackles. It’s a testament to how good our penetration is week after week.

Who knows how the next 5 weeks will unfold, but it’s great witnessing some truly phenomenal defensive play for once rather than the porous atrocities we previously fielded.

I am trying very hard to just enjoy this ride. The season is exceeding my expectations. Yet, I can't help being nervous. I want so badly to see us end 11-3 with 2 great games at Michigan and OSU in the championship, then a bowl victory. I refuse to let myself think of even more. Just win the games we should. Anything more would be like Christmas morning.

This game sets up well for Illinois but that is why we play the game. Nebraska might try to implement a few new things since the bye week but I don't see it being enough.

Nebraska Captain LB Nick Henrich is out for the season. Taking him out of a bad defense that can't stop the run already, OUCH!

QB Casey Thompson has been a turnover machine in Big Ten play. In 4 Big Ten games this season, Thompson has thrown 7 TDs and 6 INTs against Northwestern, Indiana, Rutgers and Purdue. I think Illinois wins this by double digits. If Illinois finds a way to limit playmaker WR Trey Palmer than it could get ugly for Nebraska.

Also the last time the word wraith was ever used.
I don't know what a wraith is.
Anybody?
Wraith is surely an older term, but it appears in such prominent items as Tolkien's Lord of the Rings (as "Ringwraiths"), written from 1937 to 1948 and more recently adapted to film (2001-03), and the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith automobile, built from 1946 through 1958.

My thoughts on this game are all discombobulated.

This should be a win, and should be a comfortable win. Illinois should be able to dominate with the run game, control the clock, and while Neb has some talent on O, I can't see them putting up the points required to win. Like logically I keep thinking this is a 24-10, 30-10 type win here.

Then I can't help having a voice saying "this is on the road, everything is going well, and here's where Illini gonna Illini and make this a tight one score game that will be a toss up."

I think that's decades of being an Illini fan talking though. I'll split the difference and say a steady diet of Chase Brown leads to a 27-10 win.

1. No turnovers
2. Don't give up big plays on defense
3. Put pressure on the Nebraska QB
4. No matter what the score stay with the running game. Our offensive line and Chase will wear them down.
5. Trust the defense. I don't see Nebraska scoring more than 7 points unless we have turnovers deep in our territory.
6. Protect DeVito- no need to risk him on running plays.
