In case anyone is keeping score ... my lucky orange socks remain undefeated for the season. The only game I didn't wear them was Indinia (I had to be out of town for a formal function). Sorry about that one.

The Illini Orange beats the Big Red with what used to be the boilerplate Cornhusker style: Strong running game and dominating, punishing defense. By watching the Illini game, the Husker fans were reminded of what they used to see for many years on a weekly basis from their own team.

They call the stadium in Lincoln ‘The second biggest City in Nebraska’ on game day. And it is that. And the Illini turned that madhouse... silent. And that kind of silence at a place like Nebraska is making a big noise across the Nation. The Second Biggest City in Nebraska was largely empty when the fourth quarter moved along. Not the second biggest city anymore.

What a great National advertisement for Illini football. Indianapolis has never been so close to Champaign as it is now.

Whatever happens the rest of the way, the Illini footballers have had a remarkable year. The kind of year to build on. The kind of year to be proud of and that will be remembered for years to come. The kind of year that gets us ready for a terrific Illini basketball season.

Being successful is FUN. The sun is not the only big Orange thing that is RISING.

I wish their QB didn't get injured. It was setting up to be an interesting game. Still think we would've clamped down and won it.

This is a game the coaches love. Get a comfortable win, but still quite a few things to work on this week in practice.
I think so too. I posted in game thread that I had strong confidence Walters would make the right adjustments at halftime. Not as confident about Lunney. But D and pretty vanilla O in second half was all that was needed.

BTW I just want to comment that every time my GF left the room Illinois started playing badly so she was required to remain in the living room during game action. She wandered off when Williams fumbled and came back for the defensive takeaway right after. Also we started dating in June and now it's the best season I've ever seen so far. Coincidence? I don't think so 😍

I turned the tv on just after the Illini 1st TD. I watched until DeVito got sacked midway through the 2nd then turned it off to go outside and get some yard work done. It was all Illinois before and after I was watching. Good thing your GF chipped in to help out.

The good I saw was Martin's int. The bad was DeVito not knowing where the first down line was. A fairly weak running game. A sack, timeout and penalty that took points off the board and then out of FG range. Finally the backward pass to Williams that blew up on them.

anyone else think it was a bit odd regarding the passing game? There were probably more than I remember, but was there even one pass attempt beyond 10 yards?

I noticed that as well, we didn't go down field much today.
We can't see the whole field on TV but I'm guessing that they were showing deep coverage?
Perhaps just the game plan.

USC is tied at 10 with Arizona, Ole Miss up 1 over A&M. We could see atleast 7 teams ahead of us lose today/ tonight. Plus, several of them got crushed. Epic day for Illini.
