This is the week Illinois should try to convert some of those FG attempts into TDs. High winds and just want to see Illinois be aggressive. I feel like Illinois gets up 2 scores and gets more vanilla on offense. It works because the D is so solid and it puts pressure on the opposing team to force plays.
Illinois is #2 in rushing yards allowed per game while Michigan St is #97. Michigan St has only attempted 4 FGs all season and made 1. MSU has some quality guys suspended for this game on defense. MSU QB Payton Thorne has 5 TD passes and 4 INTs in 5 Big Ten games this season. This game smells like a blowout and time for the young men to show up and deliver it.
Love for us to play in these elements at home against a struggling team. Will be keeping an eye on our special teams to see if they struggle at all otherwise think the offense and defense will be solid.

I’m curious what the ratings will be this week sharing a time slot with TN vs GA and 5 other games featuring a ranked team versus an unranked team. Viewership was good last week with 2.5M and the 6th most viewed game. They had 3rd most viewers of the six 3:30pm games (eight games if you count the 2:30pm and 4:00pm games as competing for viewers).
I would love to see them on BTN outperform OR vs CO on ESPN and PS vs IN on ABC. That would be a huge statement.

I’m very good at timing commercials. But, I’ll be careful to err on the side of returning too early rather than too late.
For the most part, I don’t bet on individual outcomes of games in any sports. A college football confidence pool and NCAA tourney pool are pretty much the extent of my sports betting. The exception is horse racing, and Breeders Cup offers excellent betting (as well as watching) opportunities. But I don’t bet enough to warrant possibly missing key plays in Illini game. Plus, the track pays off on a win whether you see the race live or on replay.

If that’s your setup, congrats. I think trying to watch that kind of setup in a relatively small space might make me physically ill. Kind of like flashing lights and those with epilepsy.

The Illinois Fighting Illini and Michigan State football teams are scheduled to meet in a Big Ten Conference contest on Saturday, Nov. 5. The game is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. CT/3:30 p.m. ET.
Illinois, ranked No. 14 in The Associated Press poll, enters the matchup 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the Big Ten Conference. Most recently, Illinois defeated Nebraska 26-9 on Saturday.
Michigan State comes into the contest 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the Big Ten. On Oct. 29, Michigan beat MSU 29-7. Michigan State football has suspended eight players due to a fracas after the Michigan loss.
Friend of mine was driving through Georgia last Saturday and texted me to see if I knew how he could listen to the game. I sent him the link Dan so graciously provides in first post of game thread. He said the soybean, pesticide and fertilizer commercials brought him back to our college days in Champaign.
Yeah, showed this to the spousal unit and declared this is what my man cave will look like. It went over well . . . we’ll mostly anyway.
Fun to watch this Saturday is MSU WR Coleman. He's very talented and unlike Palmer from Nebraska, he plays very well when a DB tries to get physical. Palmer would wimp out, Coleman on the other hand at 6' 4" and 215 lbs thrives under that environment. Illinois DB will get a real test if the MSU line can give the QB a little time.
How close will this game be? How many mistakes will MSU make and when will they make them? If MSU comes in and plays a mistake filled game, it will be a blowout. If they don't, the longer they stick around, the more dangerous they become.

Being a career military guy, son of a military guy, I‘ve moved around a lot in my life. Born in New England, I spent most of my adult life in the mid-West (IL-OH-IN-ND) and Alaska. My wife and I joke all the time about the ag commercials (“Lorsban - the root worm insecticide that controls cutworms too!”) and farm implements on the road. We still get farm implements on the roads up here, but thankfully no ag commercials except for the occasional one during an Illinois game

Well, I've thought about it before.........My arthritis makes it difficult for such a roadtrip but I hope to maybe come up for a BB game this season ...........I haven't been to the campus since I was in HS and we came all 4 years as a team trip......Couldn't win a way up there but the HS allowed us to go on their dime.....
That was pretty cool.........back then it was a one class system and the Fighting Foxes didn't make it to UI till the Burns twins came on the scene......
I believe it's the right time for you to return to campus, sir.
And as the PT's say, "movement is medicine." Moving about the campus will be good for your soul.
Hope you can make a BB game Pru....if you've not been since HS, there's been a lot of changes....esp the renovation of State Farm center.....it should be a special atmosphere this season.....it really really should!

Knowing the transfer background (and I’m sure casual fans probably don’t) it gives off a sort of “payback time” vibe. As far as I know, the transfer was a mutual parting and/or we didn’t want him to go. Maybe @illini0440 knows more?
Either way, shut him down. No reason for him to have an incredible game just because he played here before (and was well liked by fans, btw).
