Lol, this is the truth - at least among Loyalty posters who were at the game! Speaking of all of this going to Memorial Stadium, I had a horrific realization ... hope you guys don't think I'll jinx things, but I soberly took stock of the games I have actually gone into at MS over the years:

2005: #15 Wisconsin 41, Illinois 24 ... 52k+ in attendance on a gorgeous fall day, first time in Champaign, sat in the East Balcony with my family as a seventh grader. Fell in love with the place, win or lose!

2006: #1 Ohio State 17, Illinois 10 ... 53k in attendance, sat in East Main and started to believe in the Zook Experiment! Still remember being enamored with Juice Williams.

2008: #10 Ohio State 30, Illinois 20 ... brought two friends from Iowa City to this one to watch a deflating game on a cold, crappy day ... to our credit, the crowd was a sellout and absolutely packed.

2012: Louisiana Tech 52, Illinois 24 ... sat underneath the East Balcony overhang, so the place looked packed and it was fun that it was a night game. WOW, what a disappointment this one turned into.

2011: #15 Wisconsin 28, Illinois 17 ... big road trip with my college friends (one of whom was a Badgers fan) and yeah, I bout the tickets back when we were 6-0. :ROFLMAO:

2016: Iowa 28, Illinois 0 ... absolutely miserable day, sitting with my Iowa friends in the freezing cold Horseshoe watching us get demolished in front of what could not have been more than 15k or 20k fans (paid attendance was 39k).

So um, yeah ... I have literally never seen us win a home game. I had the pleasure of seeing us demolish #25 Northwestern at Wrigley (SUCH a cool experience), and I have seen the Illini play in Iowa City three times (a convincing win in 1999 when we moved there!, a typical deflating loss in 2005 and the utter shltshow that was the loss there in 2007...), but I have never seen us win in Champaign. Let's PLEASE change that on November 12th!

(I will sell my tickets to someone else if we determine that this is quite simply too bad of luck for me to attend! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:)
I have the opposite experience. I've been to about 8 games in the last 6 years and somehow have always lucked out with a win except for the cursed Iowa loss in 2018, 63-0. Those tickets were free for us (students) but I still feel ripped off.

I believe it's the right time for you to return to campus, sir.

And as the PT's say, "movement is medicine." Moving about the campus will be good for your soul.
My new son-in law has a doctorate in PT. Tells me "if you stop moving, you die"...... After years of football and concrete work, I'm just thrilled to comply :(

Funnily enough, I was in Champaign for that game with some Iowa friends, but we just tailgated a bit (MAN, Grange Grove has come a long way ... that was sad) and watched the game at Joe's. Thinkin' I made the right decision there, lol.

And I choose to believe what another poster said, I am due for a win! :ROFLMAO:

In fairness that's probably our best loss of modern times. I was also there and the swell of optimism in the fans leaving the stadium was palpable.
Yeah, even as a relatively young kid (freshman in high school), I could pick up on a sort of optimism that was brewing. It's kind of easy to forget, but we were not THAT far removed from the Sugar Bowl appearance and surprisingly disappointing season of 2002 - MUCH closer to recent success than we were when Lovie or Bret took over. So, it was kind of easy to buy into 2005 and 2006 being gimme years for Zook and that we were actually ahead of schedule, despite the overall record. I guess what I'm saying is that our fans were slightly less jaded then and needed just a tad less proof to get excited, and understandably so. This is pretty backed up by us having 48k+ for the home opener vs. WIU in 2007 after a 2-10 season and an 0-1 start.

Spirit is more than willing , but the flesh and an overactive psoriatic arthritis affliction needs my Tramadol and 420 in almost a continuous flow to enjoy my days...........We started walking again on Nov. 1st and are up to a mile a day , but that big of a road trip might be the end of all movements for me .......
Baby steps...........BB is inside viewing pleasure .....FB , not so much.............We'll see.....Maybe ........Possibly....................Hopefully..........

Allow me to set your mind at ease FotN. I had a weird streak going of taking a day off to watch certain games (MBB, Stars,...) that resulted in a L and me ticked that I took a "vacation" day to watch my team lose.

Well, fast forward to this football year and I wasn't taking any chances. I just went to work each Sat. and lived with it.....until last week.

I didn't mention it in here for fear of the same bad juju....but alas....the boys went to work even when I didn't!!

I feel like this is the trap game. MSU in turmoil, weather might be crazy, potential for reading headlines/hearing we're favorites to win the West.

Good teams win trap games though. I'm concerned that passing game will be nullified because of weather, but still think Illinois rushing attack can offset.

Illinois wins 23-7 but might feel closer than score indicates.
No fumbles, no interceptions, no stupid taking sacks for 20 yard loses. No dropped punts.
And we win easily 24-3 no matter what the weather.

Well, I've thought about it before.........My arthritis makes it difficult for such a roadtrip but I hope to maybe come up for a BB game this season ...........I haven't been to the campus since I was in HS and we came all 4 years as a team trip......Couldn't win a way up there but the HS allowed us to go on their dime.....
That was pretty cool.........back then it was a one class system and the Fighting Foxes didn't make it to UI till the Burns twins came on the scene......
You better message me if you come up for basketball this year!!
Sincerely

That's what I'm fearful of ......the weather.....it's been known to cause dropped punts, interceptions, fumbles, missed PAT's , etc....sounds like high winds with some rain could make things difficult for both teams, as well as the fans

Get to the game, Fighter. Chase is going to run for over 200 years and 3TD, and McCray may get 100, too. This is going to be a display of good old fashioned ball control offense, for about 40 minutes of possession. The defense will also score.

Hahahaha. Should have given her a poster of the shirt. In fact, I should get a poster printed, too.

If we do, in fact, have winds gusting to 50mph out of the south do we take the wind if we win the toss?

Man I gotta say our promos are way better, this was pretty weak, although props to them for using Barker. That stings a bit.
Stings?

They filmed the dude with his helmet on because he's crying.

This is a total fail by their PR department. Feature a guy who left a losing program that is now winning to go to a formerly winning program that is now losing.

Put another way, if we end up being a 13 seed in basketball playing a first round game against a 4th seeded TTech team, no way would I want this type of video.
