I honestly don't care which players do it, as long as it happens, but 3 point shooting has to improve. If teams start playing a pack line defense all the driving lanes go away. Respectable 3 point shooting is a must.

Honestly after the experience of last year I’m not too sure it’s a must. we had a bunch of shooters last year and still had games where we went cold.

Last years team became sort of one dimensional if the threes were not falling but this team does not have that problem. We have many guys that can get to the free throw line and we are overall a better defensive team as well

I think he intentionally swung out his legs (happens a lot on big dunks), but didn't expect to catch the defender. Then his left leg got caught on his shoulder and he had to hang a bit till he could free it up and land safely. But does look pretty disrespectful and I'm for it.

I've loved what we've seen so far this year, but let's see what we do in Vegas before saying that. The potential is definitely there, though.

Free-throw must improve--a must! Bad times last year and lost games. 3 pt think will come around but can't be jacking them up all the time! Epps, Shannon, Mends, and Cole probably best until Goode back. Develop Epps. All need develop free-throw shooting first!

Overall, Illinois is a decent free throw shooting team. Shannon, Melendez, Clark, Epps, Hawkins, Mayer are good at the line.

Unfortunately, Dainja is not and he will shoot a good number. Not sure he can improve much. Rodgers and Harris are not good but I think they will get better. Dain has way too many moving parts in his motion.

It will be interesting to see if Monmouth can slow down Illini bigs as they have 5 guys listed from 6'9" to 7'1". Only two played against Seton Hall. They do have some good size throughout the roster. What I will be looking for is how well these kids are jelling together with timing and ball movement....and continuing defensive focus. The nine man rotation should continue for the entire season and I think they will all embrace it as it allows them to play harder when on the floor. Also like the press with a 6'10" point defender to try to throw over and RJ and TSJ waiting to pick it off.

Correct but we must make our free throws.

We'll see about that. We definitely have the potential to play deep all year, but in some ways that's a bad thing. Most of the time, when a coach has to play a lot of guys it's because nobody is stepping up consistently. For example, right now RJ and Mayer are lackluster and leaving the door open for other guys to step up. So in a way, I would rather have those 2 (or anyone) to pick it up, and force BU to keep them on the court because they are playing so well.

Right now there are 2 guys that BU is going to want playing as much as possible, CHawk and Shannon. Everything else is completely up for grabs right now. Obviously, Vegas will tell us a lot more.
