There was a post in the game thread to the effect of “who is going to step up and be our leader”. So glad that TSJ has squashed that debate before the end of our first big game.
You have to be old to know about this.We just kept coming at UCLA in waves. They must have thought:

I've been thinking the same thing. When I imagine the talent and length of this team, I can't help but compare them to that AZ squad. They might really get there.Just hit me, TSJ reminds me or Benedict Mathurin from AZ last year.

But Brad can’t coach in big games…
It takes a second to process this one, but it's really an incredible stat.
I was actually just thinking about this. We hung with Arizona, had a lead for a bit, and then they just hit the gas and never looked back. And we just did that to UCLA. Crazy, especially thinking about where we were just 4 years ago.Arizona did the same thing to us last year. Used their length and quickness to pressure us. We are going to be a tough match up for some smaller teams.
He also didn't take one bad shot during his entire thermonuclear sequence. They took the three away a couple of times and he just ghosted right past the overplaying defender. There was a post in the game thread to the effect of “who is going to step up and be our leader”. Narrator: They can't.Now let’s see if the football team can do the same.

It absolutely was, but our ability to switch and not leave a shooter open for an uncontested shot and Brad willingness to trust his talented freshmen I think we can win that game. So impressed with Brad he really is fluid in his coaching philosophy and how he adapts to his players and takes input from his coaches. On a side note, shout out to fletch this team is physically tough due in no small part to him and his training methods. Cudos to Brad for making him feel like he is as important as his assistant coaches. Tell me how many teams travel with their strength and conditioning coach on a tourney trip and bring him onto the court where he gets face time on national TV. Love where Brad has brought this program HELL YEAH ILL.........Watching the Virginia-Baylor game, Virginia had a lot of trouble when Baylor pressed. I expect us to cause them similar problems. We have to make sure though that we do not give them open looks behind the arc. They have been beyond lethal there thus far this season (shooting over 50% as a team!!!). Huge win for us tonight. Huge. But boy would it be nice to get 1 more.
I have no problem with Sincere Harris running for President as long as Sencire Harris keeps playing basketball at Illinois.Where is Aretha....Illini get my respect and from a whole lot of others. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt...if they can learn the fundamentals of taking care of the basketball and keep the turnovers from 7-11, they beat #6 by 20.
Sincere Harris for president! !!!! Gotta get him more minutes. But not too many more as all these kids deserve starters minutes.
My #1 priority is to get someone to work with Rogers, DD, and Harris on their FT shooting mechanics. It really is not at all .
difficult if they comply with science and physiology. None were on the floor at crunch time and they will soon be needed and simply must become dependable FT shooters.
Tip of the cap and deep admiration for TSJ for his hard work and leadership. Its been a long time since we have seen a Kenny Battle type effort like that.
Onward to fight the Cavaliers. I saw little of their game but I did see a guy doing TSJ things and the highlight reel. They are experienced, confidet, and BIG....and so are our Illini. Taking down #6 and #5 in two days is about as tough of a challenge as one could find at this point in the season....but getting the opportunity is rare....so there is not reason to leave anything in the tank.
And finally, what an effort by the Illini fans who showed up and provided energy for a wonderful experience. They were a big part of the win and deserved it.
Is there any reason that Illiniwek can't dance at the Bellagio tomorrow night? Victory Illinois Var-si-ty
He was whipped.I couldn't believe that guy sagged off of him for that last dagger 3!
And Ty Rodgers was kept out for a long time just like RJ Melendez too. We are very deep in this team! I knew we'd wear them down and win! They couldn't sub like us!Still waiting for RJ
