Illinois 79, UCLA 70 Postgame

This game came down to adjustments. Hawkins was trash in the first half, but he stayed on his feet in the 2nd half and played much better. The 2 man game that Fraschilla would not shut up about was killing us, and once we adjusted, they struggled to score. And of course that press killed them. They didn't have enough guys good with the ball in their hands to handle it.

Sencire is a junkyard dog. He got after it. We need to back Shannon up to the 3 pt line to shoot FTs apparently. Well coached game on both sides. UCLA punched and we counterpunched to win the game.

Man just wait until they clean up the turnovers and Mayer/RJ get their mojo back

And Ty Rodgers was kept out for a long time just like RJ Melendez too. We are very deep in this team! I knew we'd wear them down and win! They couldn't sub like us!

They go a legit stud 7 deep and their a old winning experienced team. I'm shocked we got back up and then laid them out. Thats a heck of a team.

That was fun to watch! Harris and the press turned that game around for us. Shannon is a stud! We are going to be scary when the freshman get their sea legs. Looks like Harris already has is. Dude is fearless. Epps is going to be a stud. Reminds me of Feliz going to the basket. Dainja is so smooth and skilled for a big man. We gotta cleanup the turnovers. There are going to be growing pains but I love this team's talent and length! ILL!

Kudos to the coaches for some great adjustments

1. The full-court press

2. Putting bigger guys on Williams

Both of those took them completely out of their 2-man action they were killing us with. They basically had nothing else on offense.

The coach is didn't put bigger guys on Williams. We just have bigger guys this year positionless basketball. . 😆 🤣 😂

TSJ is a scoring machine.......Fast as greased lighting and so clutch.........................
Sincere Harris changed the pace of the game and pumped up the whole team...................
Without a doubt this was a team win as we were behind 44-29 and finished the game on a 50-26 run.....50-26 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As i said in the game thread , reading that thread was like my ex wife during her worst menopause episodes.....last game i will be following the game thread as so many Illini "" fans "" gave up with some talking about watching something else .....grow a pair .....seriously , grow a pair.......we will be insufferable at times , but the Illini will never GIVE up like some do in the game thread .....

Bu gave credit to Sincere in the post game radio interview for changing the game pace and waking up the rest of the team ......Sincere shows GREAT leadership and hustle and is the epitome of a JUNK YARD DOG........I'm so happy he wears Illini O & B.......

Wish we could have had TSJ for all of his college career but one year is much better than none.....................

Onto Sunday and another rip snortin whale of an Illini game and hopefully another win...................

JMHO................LET'S GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game, in my opinion , has started to identify what each player role is. Just a few observations. SH is a spark plug off the bench.
CHawk, although not confident offensively yet, he is a defensive stopper.
Epps and Clark are your PGs for the season. Steady and solid with occasional hiccups.
Mayer is getting his mojo back. He will be instrumental where this team goes.
Dainja…relentless. Needs more touches.
Once RJ, Ty and eventually Luke get in sync…yikes.
And well, TSJ…..wow! No words.
