Mississippi State alum here. State will be fired up for the game for sure. OTOH, we always enjoyed Coach Bilema (?) when he was at Arkansas, always thought he was somewhat of a character as well. He seemed to have bad luck at Arky and lost a lot of games that could have gone either way. Looking forward to a good competive game and agree it could go either way. It may be one of the more entertaining bowl games. Good luck.
BTW, https://www.on3.com/boards/forums/sixpackspeak-presented-by-strange-brew-coffeehouse.151/ is a good website to check out to get a feel for some of the crazier State fans.

Our secondary will very likely be depleted on January 2nd. We'll also be without at least two defensive coaches. Not sure Vegas has yet factored this into the spread.

I'll be at the game, but if I were a betting man, I'd have to go with the cowbells.

ILL !!!

Y'all lost your DC I think, and we lost our OC for all practical purposes ( Leach, may he RIP)....looks like Steve Spurrier Jr. will be calling plays which he has never done. It may be an audition for him for that job. So both teams kind of hamstrung.

Yes, I was at that game with my brother and 2 friends. Drove there from Illinois. Froze our b***s off. Very damp and cold. We went down for some refreshments before the game and saw the limo pull up with BB. He and some attendants walked right passed us. He looked very ill. I believe he passed shortly after this game was played. And yes, two obvious late hits on Eason when the team was driving toward a touchdown. Followed by an interception which changed the outcome of the game. The luck of the Illini. 😥
We too were at that game in 1982. The temperature was in the 20's at kickoff. Besides the two unflagged late hits on Eason and the cold I also remember well the hit Jeremiah Castille put on Tim Brewster. The stadium was packed and loud but that hit could be clearly heard above the crowd noise.

BB lived just 4 weeks following the '82 Liberty Bowl.

In to the unknown we go. It feels good to go to a bowl game and play kids who have not gotten much tick. Hope they do well but if not, we have had a great season.

I would not anticipate McCray doing much. If he has been hurt badly enough to not practice or play all season, I doubt he will be a workhorse here. Let the players who practiced all year carry the load.
I mean yeah, if he's not healthy don't play him. If he was as "close" as BB says he was a few months ago, and he's back to full strength now, getting some work in a bowl game could be a nice opportunity to give him some confidence going into next season.

Bielema will play whoever gives us our best chance to win, regardless of who practiced all year. Considering it doesn’t count against his redshirt, I see Josh getting 12-15 totes, and Love getting equal amount. I think Devito has an excellent last game. And I am eager to see what the secondary looks like without Spoon and Sydney. Strain is back, no Jennings. Young bucks will step in and get many reps. I.E. McCantos and Scott.
