Folks, let’s avoid taking things personally when an 18 year old chooses someone else besides our favorite team. Let’s also not project their decision making process for a televised ceremony as how they live their life.
Right, some kids will do silly things. Adults get to ignore it all and focus on the kids that are coming to Illinois to play.

Been reading some stories about a prospect from Texas....He is going to parachute from 15,000 feet naked, and land on one of three large circles in AT&T stadium, TCU, SMU, ID-S ( I da hole State). Mormon Tabernacle Choir will sing Glory Glory from the stands.

Insiders, after this class (and obviously dust settling in transfers out/in), how much closer will we be to a very solid 2 deep roster?
Felt like our lack of depth at key positions really hurt us last year

True. I think if anything though it makes you wonder about the adults supporting these kids. At 18 your still need your parents and teachers to be parents and teachers. Setting up a big ego inflation event doesn't seem like a long term good. Maybe I'm just old and grumpy now idk

Disappointed we couldn't lock in a top in-state prospect, but at peace that we have a solid class of football players who want to play for us with the prospect for one more outstanding talent to join us. The State of Illinois Football is strong!

Feagin was 5th in the state and it's been several years since we got a top 5 kid from Illinois. (I'd have the exact year but 247 wasn't cooperating). I think this underscores just how much work BB and company have had to do to win over our own state.

That's my opinion as well. But, there's no maybe about me being old, so I don't know what to tell you.

Our 2023 class has rank of 42nd.

I wish we had our QB position solidified. The portal bailed us out last year with TDV. Can Bret pull another QB out of his hat?

Otherwise I feel pretty good about our program. In Bret we trust!

I know the hate for Michigan is stronger than the hate for Purdue here, but I am pretty relieved he isn't going to Purdue. That would have been a tougher pill to swallow in my mind given the proximity, rivalry, and coaching circumstances. At Michigan he will be a little more out of sight out of mind.

Man, it sucks having to not like the program Walters is coaching for...

It is absolutely the most critical thing, but I think you should just understand and expect the QB Portal Carousel as the way of the world in college football now.

Like for real, if we get Hudson Card, Donovan Leary and Cal Swanson will be some other school's dance partner in a future carousel.

As Hyman Roth said, this is the business we've chosen.

Boo. Michigan gets another.

Side note: that kid just showed his character. His parents should know better. #cliffmas
I'm not a big "we didn't want him anyway" guy, but sounds like a potential locker room cancer. Character shows he is where he belongs.

For what it's worth, I didn't trust Hyman Roth right from the start. But, he did accept the good with the bad.

While I don't like the way he went about things, I was 18 once and did much dumber things... actually I'm 34 and still do some dumb things. Let's cut the kid a break.
Yes, but I had pulled this, my father (ex WWII sergeant) would have beat my axx so hard I would still feel it in my late 60"s.
