He was obviously well liked and opened doors in the st louis area for us. Does this hurt us with any recruits or is it just a matter of who we replace him with? I think IW has bought into Bielema, but I could see him following Patterson.
Patterson to Purdue. Lot of inexperience in W Lafayette on staff. Will be interesting to see how that turns out.
How will this affect our roster or recently signed commits from East St. Louis? Can’t be good for Williams or Love.
IW in a Purdue jersey might actually kill me

No, IW and to a lesser extent Love are now Boilermakers
Love them both as players, but could be worse.
I have to assume Patterson get a better role vs. leaving for $.

It will be the same role, and we could match any offer.
I think it's probably less that he chose Walters over Bielema than that the IW camp, of which Patterson is CEO, chose Graham Harrell over Barry Lunney.

I like Reggie Love, but could see him moving on given the stable of RBs we have. But if we lose IW, that's gonna really hurt.
Good luck to C Patt, I'm VERY interested to see who BB picks for these 3 spots. Under prior regimes there'd be panic if we lost good assistants, but now I'm looking forward to endless possibilities.
Patterson did some good things here, especially with keeping Lovie's guys here the last few years, but he was never getting an increased role while George McDonald is here. Best of luck to him; fortunately, filling the RB coach spot with a good recruiter isn't our biggest problem
Bummer, but understand these things happen. Hopefully it works out better for IW, really like that kid.

Thought Harrell was their OC? Would make sense that IW and Love would follow him given he's been their coach for like 10 years, but who knows
Walter's is absolutely purging the illini staff and no 2 cents about it. When he was initially hired I knew there would be some departures but not to this extent. I hate to say this because I loved Walter's but this could turn in a love/hate thing real quick for me.

I'd like to think at least that IW has built up strong relationships with his teammates and other coaches at Illinois over the past few years that one coach moving on won't be the end all be all. But obviously there is something there.
