that was textbook definition of targeting "No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown of his helmet."
crown hits back of neck
or
No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder.

karma

the defender should not have done anything - was already tackled

tarnishes the TCU win

the one constant is, refs are incompetent, and replay officials double down
If that wasn't targeting, then targeting isn't a thing anymore.

May have well been targeting but I'm glad they didn't make that call at that point of the game. Michigan got a break on their last scoring drive when they didn't review that pass that obviously hit the ground making the receiver lose control momentarily. Muck Fichigan!

Clearly tO$U is way better than scUM. Their win in Columbus was an aberration.

That sure looked like a first down on the replay

How was the Bowers play a first down? If that same play happens at the goal line and he extends the ball past the goal line but outside of the pylon (out of bounds side of pylon) it would be short of a touch down.

I think the key was his left hand was inbounds ahead of the line to gain. It would have been a touchdown if it were in end zone, since his hand was established in end zone, the plane gets extended to that point. It is why if both feet are in end zone established, it is a td (regardless of where the ball is).
