I am a little concerned about the growth plates. Or, maybe just looks old for his age?

Based on his highlights, this looks like a very good and much needed get for us. Kid seems to have outstanding vision and passing ability and I really like his pull-up midrange game. On the offensive side he is extremely visible on the court, captains the team, and shows exceptional instinct. The one major concern I have watching him play are that it looks like he's going to need a decent amount of work on the defensive side of the ball as he plays pretty far off the guy he is defending and is a bit passive on that end of the floor, though he does a decent job of lurking the passing lanes for quick steals and transition. Also wonder from those in the know how his speed looks like it will stack up against B10 guards. It could be the videos but it looks like he might be average to very slightly below average speed compared to other B10 point guards.

All said, this kid looks like a savant on the offensive end so if we can get him serviceable on the defensive end, kid will be truly phenomenal. Tremendous job by the Illini staff.

Will be nice to have a dime-giver on the squad again. I really appreciated what Walker was doing as a point man in Nebraska's offense last night and the passes that Curbelo used to make for us that created easy buckets at the rim. Call him Moretti The Mint because he makes dimes.

Here is a nice article from 2019 in which Niccolo Moretti's older brother, Davide, describes the brothers' relationship. As noted before, Davide played for Texas Tech from 2017-20 and now plays professionally in Italy. Their dad coaches a professional team in Italy, as well.

Quote: "I try to be the role model he is looking up to," (Davide) Moretti said. "I want him to see this and maybe one day he will do the same thing."
The article also notes that Davide improved greatly on the defensive end between freshman and sophomore years.

Wait wait wait. So on Friday, it seemed like all heck was breaking loose. Now, in a matter of 5 days, we have a top 25 win, a road conference demolition, look drastically better in every aspect on the court, and now we've brought in a new point guard. Sheesh. Never ever, ever, ever doubt BU.
But he yells at his players too much and is mean!
