I didnt understand why so many "experts" bought into all the IU hype and picked them to win the league. Think TJD is good but overrated and didn't think they had enough shooters to compete for the conference
The comparison I used was our 2010-11 Illini. We were a Bubble team that knocked off a few good teams the year before, and we ~returned everyone~. We got a little better, but sometimes a leopard doesn't change its spots!

Was that the same year as Middle Tennessee St?
I had to look this one up, but I do vaguely remember this catastrophe ... and this loss looks like it was the first truly red flag in our post-Dee decline.

I was not active on the message boards back then, but the previous year (2006-07 season) we went 23-12 (9-7), ending with a collapse in the First Round vs. (5) Virginia Tech. We played a super weak schedule, and the only ranked team we beat all year was #24 Indiana 51-43 at home.

We were 8-4 going into the Middle Tennessee State game, with a resume that was hard to figure out. We smoked Arizona State at Maui to go to 3-0 before losing by 13 to Duke in a game that was closer than the score. We then beat Oklahoma State to cap our Maui trip, lost a close one to Maryland and lost in OT at the United Center to #24 Arizona ... given the McCamey class were freshmen and we just lost the McBride class, I guess you could still be optimistic.

However, two games later we lost to Miami (OH) at home in OT ... at least we then won Braggin' Rights, I guess?? The home loss to Middle Tennessee State was when I remember knowing that season was a complete bust. We'd go on to finish the regular season 13-18 (5-13), only beating terrible Michigan, Northwestern, Iowa and Minnesota squads. We would make a random run in the BTT, including a win over #16 Purdue in OT, but MAN that year sucked. A relatively random "comeback" year in 2009 and a rebound in recruiting would stave off the critics for a few years, but it now seems obvious how depressing things were about to get.

Just saw this and it's pretty cool. Especially in the huddle. The Minnesota coach is pure energy!

With 10:00 to go in Iowa City, it's Michigan 65, Iowa 59. High scoring affair. Worth your while to time in if you are just surfing around

Goodness, Minnesota. Had the ball up two in the front court, guy passes to not let OSU foul him. But he passes to a 43% FT shooter, who gets fouled and promptly misses the 1-and-1.
