Obviously, I can't and couldn't read Izzo's mind, but I believed the reason he was so "upset" and vocal about Weber being dismissed was because he knew how to beat Weber. At some point and in the back of his mind, Izzo knew his reign of consistently beating Illinois would come to an end.

And that end is Underwood.

Not sure if Izzo is a big fan of BU, but who cares. Take no prisoners, Coach, when it comes to MSU.
Am I the only one here that rolls his eyes every time I have read this silly narrative over the last almost 10 years?

I have a lot of questions about this kid, but the first one is, would a pie from Papa Del’s make the cut with his seasoned Italian palate?
He'll likely be appalled and seek immediately to transfer to St. John's. Good thing they already have a point guard. ;)

They frequently sit with each other at AAU games when on the road recruiting

Another feature of the Sports World is that of the Sports ‘Fraternities’.

Players have a certain bond and fraternity with each other that is unique to them. Including their opponents. The Players Brotherhood is a thing – a game within the Game.

Coaches have their own bond and coaching fraternity and brotherhood. Including your opposite number on the other side of the floor waving his arms around and looking ill-at-ease.

Coaches have loyalty to their players and to the institution that signs their checks. But both of those begin to dissipate quickly when the checks from that address stop coming.

So Coaches acknowledge with each other their particular place in the sports hierarchy. The Coaching Brotherhood. They understand what the job entails. They understand the stresses that go with that. They understand the pressures on the families. They understand the challenges of reaching and teaching young people. They all face the same pageant of recruiting and now today of the Transfer Portal and NIL. And Coaches all go through the process of moving up the ranks and coaching levels and trying to hold on to their job year after year.

All of these things create a unique battle-tested brotherhood among Coaches. You may not necessary like the other guy... but you understand him and you share many of the same things he is going through. A brotherhood born of fighting the same battles.

It’s a certain kind of professional respect... so you sit together (unless you’ve got a past issue that makes that a bad look). And sometimes, you even like and respect that other guy. But you don’t have to. You’re still brothers.

Can someone explain to me how the Big Ten schedules games. O$U and RU have played 2 times when a lot of teams haven’t even played once. I understand us playing Purdue at the end of the season if before the season you thought the game would decide a conference championship but shouldn’t games be spread out better

I don't know how they do it but I assume an optimization model is used. what the variables optimized are I have no idea. Last year we played Maryland twice in two weeks during January.

Anyone think a team can catch Purdue? Was just looking at their schedule, and with 7 away games plus Illinois remaining, I could see them losing half of those and going to 16-4, maybe 15-5. Not much margin to catch them IMO.

Is some of our resurgence due to healing earlier aches and pains? Definitely think the players bought in but they seem to be playing like earlier in the season
Dainja's excellent play lately has a lot to do with it, IMO
