I would bet that coach is telling them to drive more.

TSJ for sure.

Hummel 7-9 from 2 and 3-13 from 3
I don’t disagree that they DEFINITELY jack up WAY too many trays…BUT if they would consistently shoot more of ‘em in the flow of the game that % would go up quite a bit.

The thing is we have the athletes and players to be much better offensively. But if guys besides TSJ aren't willing to drive to the hoop once in a while or move without the ball, we are way too easy to guard and force into poor shots. When is the last game CH or RJ have slashed to the rim? I understand RJ has been hurt. Drive and if it's not there kick it for a less contested three? It seems easy to see, but we never do it?
It would all be easy without 5 other guys on defense guarding you

Nice to see MM have a good first half after that Indiana game…

The good news: Looks like we practiced free throws for a change. ;) Playing very good D - OSU at 31% for the game. Shannon carried us for a good portion of the 1st half. Again. I’m so glad we have him.

We are 7/9 from 2, 11/13 from the line, and 3/13 from 3. It seems pretty clear what we need to more and less of.

Pick up the ball sooner. Mayer doesn’t fight the high ball screen at all and doesn’t take away the strong hand of the driver. He is double teaming great tonight as the whole team seems to be. Quite the contrast to the Indians game. I hate when no one at least puts token pressure on the inbounds at the end of the half. The ball went all the way under the basket. Don’t get me started on ever letting a team roll the ball inbounds when you have a lead!!! Otherwise great defensive first half. Offense was ok but should be up 15. Tired possessions….jack up stupid threes.

Great D by the Illini
sluggish O at times
MM still blocking shots
keep with the sweet FT's
RJ playing great D
good play by Epps at the end of the half driving and getting 2 FT's
Dainja zone needs to come alive this half

RJ has been taking it to the rim lately....just doing it while far more under control than Shannon. But Hawkins, for some unknown reason, has never felt comfortable inside 10 ft. unless he is dunking uncontested. If I were coaching, that would have changed a year ago or more. He needs to spend a few weeks in summer with Gorgi and DD.

Very surprised they didn't call a foul on Dain there. That was more a foul than either of the 2 called on him in the first half

Offense just looks so bad when they have to run sets. Need something different with the line up. We need to get to the point where we flow from transition 7 seconds to offense sets. You can see us stop pause and then start the set each time.

Really really bad shots that absolutely nuke momentum are our achilles heel. We just cannot control ourselves when it comes to jacking really bad threes early in the shot clock.
