Part of it is they want to be a professional, they don’t want to be a student anymore and go to school and have to deal with ncaa restrictions and the like. That life is not for everybody. At a certain point, sure you can refine your skill set a bit more but it’s not gonna significantly change your professional prospects and you’re just older at that point. Kofi wouldn’t have benefited from another year and would be in the same spot but a year later, imo.

NIL is a mystery. We’re not sure at the moment what the going rate is for power conference basketball players. Hawkins probably isn’t getting more than a two way contract.

Hawkins will definitely get an NBA shot whether he leaves this year or next. His build and playing style is exactly what NBA teams value nowadays, even though he probably needs another year. I’m sure at least a few teams are willing to gamble on his potential.
IMO another year in NCAA doesn't help Hawk (or Kofi). Take an opportunity while there is an opportunity

Somebody talk me out of dropping a nutty amount of money for the game at Purdue.
I'm driving to Champaign for the Michigan game anyway, and it is just so damn tempting, minus the scarcity and pricing of the secondary market tickets right now.
Pulled the trigger yesterday. Do it.

In that case, go to North Carolina.

Kofi was right on the bubble of making the Jazz roster and playing down with their G League affiliate. His agent said the money in Japan was too great to turn down. It would not surprise me that he gets anotherr NBA look see. Myers Leonard has worked out for the Lakers recently and will probably go to some team's Summer camp.

If this guy comes back to school, he will certainly be looking to transfer up. He’ll have every school after him. But would be an excellent replacement for a couple of our guys.

Grant Nelson looks amazing: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRsx6qWd/

See the 21:34 mark for our very own Matthew Mayer.
Mayer has been name dropping BU every chance he gets. I love the idea of him being all-in once they saw eye to eye — especially considering the chatter at the time here that we could see multiple mid season transfers — but part of it feels like someone told him something like “NBA coaches don’t like it when you air dirty laundry” and he’s flipped. Any of our insiders have a sense of much of this is legit and how much is corporate speak? (No knock on corporate speak since that’s a third of my livelihood)

Not back to 5 on 5 yet, but merely light shooting. I wouldn't be surprised to see a medical redshirt.

I know the insiders said to temper expectations... But I was really looking forward to seeing our sharpshooting ginger

Well that seems to imply he hasn’t healed as well as hoped. There’s still time, but if he can’t get to 100% pretty quick it will be really difficult for him to be a factor in time for this season. I’d probably lean toward the redshirt also, but Luke may feel differently.
