I just don’t understand why Underwood does not try to make defensive adjustments in an attempt to change/slow the opponent’s rhythm at times.

It's just so frustrating because Illinois wants to be elite, but it's so obvious that's not the case at all. Team is so overhyped at times, it's annoying. No way this team is advancing to a Sweet Sixteen. They will be very lucky to win in Round 1.

Can't even advance to S16 the last two years, how can we expect them to advanced this year with this team.

Just curious, why were Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Maryland so much better matchups?

I'm sorry, but that's just BS. If you want to pride yourself on being a good defensive team, you don't let a guy do that to you.

Unfortunately, I believe you are right. While this team has an exorable amount of talented players, collectively, they do not fit the mold of last years team of everyday guys. They are more like every other day guys.

ffs we gave up 93 points and scored 81. You don’t get points if the other team misses a shot. How is anyone’s takeaway on this game that we missed too many threes? That’s like looking at a plane that’s missing it’s wings and blaming the crash on faulty landing gear.

Epps and Melendez both completely losing their outside shot at the same time has been an issue. We seem to think we can shoot ourselves out of it, but at this point in the season we are who we are, a poor 3 point shooting team. Penn St. has multiple guys who are better shooters than anyone in our roster, including Mayer.

Honestly, not worried about this game in the least. A few teams lost to Miami of Ohio when it was Wally's World in the tourney. And Saint Peter's as a 15 beat Kentucky last year after getting scalding hot behind the arc. You just hope you don't run into teams playing like this. No our defense wasn't good but PSU might put up less points in an empty gym with the same shots they had tonight. They were great and Pickett was all-decade 1st team B10 tonight. Not much you can do other than shake your head, say good game, and move on.

In positive news, Ty was great tonight and RJ had a three go down. I'll take those positives out of this one. We didn't play as bad as a lot of people think- Penn State just played way way way above their level. It happens.

You can only really swallow this if you didn't completely sh#t the bed at home against this team. That was inexcusable, and exposed the lack of focus on a team with two "super" senior transfers.

BU has to be shaking his head at this team to the point of dizziness.

Legitimately insane to not press earlier. Especially seeing how effective it was at the end. Can’t understand why we didn’t press/trap until the game was already over.

That is ridiculous. Time was run in out and Epps didn’t take one bad three all game. Also while TSJ has taken some at times I didn’t see that tonight. Also did you watch the UCLA game and complain?RJ has shot us awful from3 but the others while they may have not shot great they have not forced many like they once were
. This team lost the first three to start the B10 due to poor schemes but have won 8 out off 21 since. We do need to shoot it better but I’m still optimistic Goode will show something that RJ hasn’t and the fen will continue to improve
Epps is a massive asset and he missed some tonight but he didn’t force anything
! No one did until late
