this is probably the least interest i have had in a illini basketball team in quite awhile.
The two seniors (Mayer and Shannon) while good players, are not fitting the EDG mold. Hawkins too inconsistent as well. The “every day guy” culture is being carried by freshmen and a soph in Goode. Learning to evaluate culture fits via the transfer portal is going to have a curve to it.
Especially sad to lose BIG games on the road with zero crowd.
Will be tough to finish top 4 in big ten now. Gotta win a game in Indiana.
Never seen 3 worse 3 point shooters than Epps Hawkins and TSJ continue to jack 3 after 3 every game. It’s absolutely insane. Essentially turnovers every time.

This is not personal but the absolute lack of adjustments is abhorrent. Underwood owns this loss. How can this be a carbon copy of what happened in Champaign? I don’t think he knows how to stop Pickett. Hate to say it but TJD has his stage set too.

Penn State just a really bad match up for Illinois. Pickett knows he can score at will and if we double, he has 2-3 lights out 3 pt shooters just waiting for the ball. He really is a special player. Hope we don't have to play them in the Big Ten tourney. Time to game plan for TJD in Bloomington now. We don't need another +40 pt night on the road.

I still worry that we're a bad stretch away from being back on the bubble. Get beat by Indiana, don't take care of business against Northwestern, and have Ohio St. put up a good performance at home and we are no longer a sure thing. I'm not saying it's likely, but I'm not entirely comfortable with our current position.
Absolutel! We gotta hit above 30 percent from three and move forward. The refs missed a couple calls but that goes both ways. That a cop out blaming them. We just missed too many 3s again at key points
Especially when TSJ missed one that woulda cut it to 6! Pickett is a horrible match up for our young guys and even our vets.
If rodgers ever gets a mid range game he showed a bit of that inside tonight and that was great to see

Beat Minnesota, proceed to only win one of the next three "should be wins" because of tired legs with a lot of games squeezed in a condensed window.
Smoked by Purdue in the season finale and limp into the B1G Tournament at 19-12, 10-10 in conference.
Win one game in the B1G Tournament to get to 20 wins, end up as a 10 seed and lose in the first round.
Surely there is no way it plays out like that, right?

I stand by this. I do not understand for the likes of me why he wasn't doubled at times. Also, take the ball to the basket. That has to be a priority to get to the foul line. Jacking to many 3's will be the ultimate downfall of this team. We are not a good 3 point shooting team.

Our ball denial defense is too inconsistent and lazy. There are times where we shutdown the ball but leave too many outlets that they can pass too. This has to be improved if we are to try to do anything in post-season play.
What did you want BU to do? Pickett shot over 6-10 Hawkins with a hand in his face multiple times. If you doubled him he passed it to the open guy. He was on.
The only thing we could have done was press and prevented him from getting the ball
Just don't know what to expect from this team on a nightly basis. Just hope for the best I guess. Expectations for March Madness is tepid at best.

Only one person to blame this loss upon...and he should be removed from ever wearing the orange and blue...oh wait....he didn't, never has, and never will. Great play Jaylen Pickett!!
