Désolé, ce n'est pas sur le personnel. Dainja a avancé pour répondre à tout son battage médiatique, et il est tout simplement impossible que vous lui preniez des minutes pour un étudiant de première année limite.

Girl Door GIF

As long as it's not any of the freshmen, Dain or Luke...

Saw a Geno Auriemma video talking about recruiting and promises....

The gist was "I will promise your kid minutes, points, touches, position, etc...............Now, you promise me your kid shoots 50%, is always early to practice, stays late, is the hardest worker, doesn't turn the ball over, etc."

I paraphrased based on memory. Good video though.

I don’t think we’re losing much. I really think he was destined to be a spot player, best case.

Easy for you to say!

People need to realize RE promises made, did he think he’d come in mid-season and get minutes, coaches managing his expectations that this wasn’t the linear journey that was expected. If he hadn’t had the eligibility issue and been able to join the team as planned things might well have been different. Throw in Dain’s rapid development and his ability to stay out of foul trouble for the most part (no DQs and only 4 games with 4 fouls), and it was a difficult situation. Perrin is an 18 year old kid far away from home who was forced to go to a prep school where it is very likely he didn’t make too many connections. He then gets to Illinois and likely didn’t connect with his new teammates as well as he would have if he had arrived when planned. So basically he hasn’t had the anchors of playing meaningful basketball and teammate relationships during what I’d expect has been a difficult adjustment. Just saying I wouldn’t be too quick to judge anyone involved. Just didn’t work out. No reason to asses blame; just wish him good luck in the future.
"No reason to "asses" blame; just wish him good luck in the future."

We all know you meant "assess". That typo was epic! 👏🏾😂💪🏾I'm not poking fun at your comment. Just got a good chuckle at the end. I-L-L

What I heard as well … Kid expected to start coming in at semester … He made great progress, but was in no way ready to start or even play …
Huh... Did something get lost in translation then? Because I'm not sure how anyone on Brad's staff could have "promised" him that. If that was the case and what he wanted and expected, then why would Brad's staff want him to come midseason then? Doesn't seem all that logical. I'd understand this more if he was worried about not being a starter next year though that was what he was being "promised" during recruiting. But this year immediate midyear starter? Something really seems off there... From both a player expectation standpoint and from a staff communication standpoint. Call me a bit confused on this one.

Maybe he was adamant about coming at semester and couldn’t be talked out of it. The staff probably knew they’d lose him either way.

Just because he expected it doesn’t mean he was promised it. And as someone points out, didn’t really cost Illini anything to take him at mid-year if he was adamant about it. You hope being in the program and going through the process is beneficial for both parties and he enjoys/sees the benefit of it. If he does, all signs pointed to him being a productive player down the line. If he doesn’t (which obviously he didn’t), then scholarship is back open.

Sorry to see the kid leave as he certainly had talent. But didn’t work out, so I wish him the best and now wait patiently for BU and staff to find the next contributor to fill that scholarship.
