The factor you aren’t taking into account is how the NBA has changed. In a lot of ways Draymond changed the league’s perception of players like him. Out of MSU he was viewed as a “tweener,” which was at the time a knock. Then he went on to a hall-of-game career. Coming out of college today he’d be viewed as a switchy, versatile player and a surefire lotto pick. It’d have to be a gangbuster season. Even Draymond Green, widely known as a “does the little things” type of player, averaged 16/10 his senior year and that earned him the 35th overall pick [1]. Hawk isn’t close to most of Draymond’s individual stat categories [2].
I think we’d all love to see Hawk make it, but I don’t see how it’d be this year. I hope me proves me wrong!

Or Yuri Collins or bothNeed a guy like say…Jalen Pickett
His recruitment from the Illini's perspective was a clown show from what some Loyalty insiders have said. I'd doubt Underwood would get involved in that recruitment again should he decide to transfer.Maybe a gut who can Schutt the ball?
I'd get over it if he can help me win.His recruitment from the Illini's perspective was a clown show from what some Loyalty insiders have said. I'd doubt Underwood would get involved in that recruitment again should he decide to transfer.
With CoHawk another factor is the NBA toughness and rules. CoHawk has come a long way but feel his trajectory is close to Brian Cook. A fourth year to get his ppg above 16 pts and smooth out his game, get stronger.
Do NBA scouts hate him complaining after every foul call like it's the biggest miss in the history of basketball? I know I do.With CoHawk another factor is the NBA toughness and rules. TJ is among the very top FTA in all of Power-5.My 2 cents - he's got two major issues: the obvious one is his 3 point shooting and what that does to his efficiency. The less obvious is his aggressiveness. For contrast, he's gone to the line 66 times in just over 1000 minutes. TSJ 192 times in 928 minutes. He's not challenging defenders much, opting for opportunistic buckets.
Saturday Sports Talk:Eh, not looking for specific names. They mentioned a possible big-time transfer as a possibility. I'm more curious if there are some things going on behind the scenes to give us hope that the staff will fill some obvious needs for next year's team (PG, SHOOTERS!!, a big, ...).

It’s a pretty unfair standard to hold Coleman to that stat, not to mention that it’s only one of many metrics of a player’s “aggressiveness.”
For example, Coleman has in the ballpark of double the offensive rebound than does TJ. That, to me, also denotes a certain level of aggressiveness…
I agree 100% with it. We were dealing with issues with players and the media, players not happy with the offense, a transfer situation, a guy going pro mid season......this was going on well into January. I still don't think that this team has meshed 100%, but it's obviously infinitely better than it was. I'm not sure that Mayer/Shannon have played overly well together. I'm not a fan of this his turn/my turn philosophy. I don't think that we've established a true "go to guy" because we have two guys who want to be it. It's had to be incredibly hard for BU to define roles on the fly. Those roles should be defined in September/October and not November thru March. That's the challenge put in front of these coaches.Saturday Sports Talk:
This past Saturday Steve and Loren talked with a well-seasoned beat writer from Lafayette, IN. They asked him what he thought of the 2022-23 Illini. He provided an interesting response (paraphrasing)...................I think Brad is having to spend way too much time coaching "culture & effort" this year. And that sometimes happens with too many transfers. In his opinion, he thinks it's much more important to recruit your own guys and teach them the program's culture, rather than trying to force-fit the puzzle pieces with juniors and seniors transferring from other programs.
Not sure where I land on the issue, but it was an interesting take.
Morez?Until we hear something official regarding the NBA draft and the transfer pool, this should be our initial roster heading into 2023-24 (with one open spot). The extra Covid year applied, based upon eligibility. Should be enough for a Top 4 BIG TEN finish!
