Yeah, with all the wisdom usually exhibited in your posts, this is not of your better ones IMHO.

OK, then let's put it this way. Take the last ten years or so (if not longer)... and especially when you weigh in the Illini performances in the Dance. You could just about have the same list in terms of (Madness) tournament success or lack thereof vs. what the Illini have done (in the big tournament) with regard to border States. And some years you'd have to also throw in Iowa and Wisconsin to that list. The Illini have just not had the level of success that I for one believe they should have.

Are my expectations unfair? If so, how? Isn't our standard to be... Elite?

I appreciate the Illini as much as anybody. That should be manifest from things I've said. And yes I appeciate the high finishes a couple years in the Conference.
But anyone on the outside looking at how the lllini have faired in March vs. these Border States programs... would they come to a different conclusion?

What I'm saying is that there is something these other programs are doing that are allowing them to succeed in the big tournament and in the final National rankings that the Illini need to improve upon. Not saying the rankings are perfect, but aren't they consistenty indicating something to be paid attention to?

Looking at just this year - we lost all 5 starters, 90% of our points - and then won 20 games and tied for 5th in the B1G. Sounds like a great program to me.
As for last 4 years we have won more games than any other team in the B1G and outperformed Marquette and Missouri. Sounds like a great program to me.
If you want to go back more than 4 years you start to have an argument, but then it has no real point because BU has rebuilt Illinois into a great program.

What would our freshmen have to do to be able to shoot 3's at a 45% rate ?

I was just wondering how kobe brown from Missouri was a 24% 3pt. Shooter for three years and this year he is 45%. What would someone have to do to do that? Our players could learn from that.

For anyone who is interested, there is an Illini (former) in a conference tourney final. Tev Jones leads Southern Utah against GCU tonight at 10:30pm on ESPN2 in the WAC Final.
Took a look at GCU’s roster thinking Finke the younger might still be there. Transferred to Wright State a few years ago, it seems

I’m probably crazy but I like the way we match up against guys like Jalen Wilson and Brandon Miller way more than guys like TJD, Edey, and Pickett.

Do just what DMFW did for 1 year, only shoot open catch and shoot 3s you are comfortable with in the flow of the game. Oh and get up about 1000 shots a day in the off season. Hope for a few shooters bounces and you are looking like a 3 pt specialist.

Let’s say I’m looking for a former Illini players jersey. Like a Nick Anderson or Kendall Gill throwback. Where is a legit place I would get that from?
Fighting Illini Memorabilia Collectors on Facebook is a great group! Beau Wilson, one of their awesome admins, can help you. :illinois:
