i've heard the reason BU is entertaining offers is because there's "something he doesn't like". i know that's a broad statement but have you heard anything about that?
Most people in any line of work are always ready to entertain offers. Even if you're 100% happy where you're at, it's stupid to let what could be a good move for you and your family pass you by. Agents are always talking, even if the coach isn't actively involved. It's par for the course

Agree. What is there not to like at Illinois? He has the freedom to build the program as he sees fit, a good relationship with his AD, and a supportive fan/alumni base. Not to mention that he is the 8th highest paid coach in the nation. None of the insiders on this board nor any of the guys I know have mentioned anything about Brad not being happy in Champaign.

Amen! Our own fans really undersell this job.

This!

Anyone on here that wouldn’t consider doing the same job for 15-25% more compensation is lying.

At the moment Beard got fired the vibes had gone toxic. The situation improved from there, but only somewhat.

When there was a moment when it looked like it was a wipe the slate clean scenario at Illinois, that makes a new opportunity something to consider.

It doesn't seem like a wipe the slate clean scenario anymore. I hope it's not. We'll see. TSJ and Hawkins returning would be big.

Both Illinois and Texas are very good jobs.

When did it seem like a wow wipe the slate clean scenario? The three losses to start the conference season? I'm honestly asking. When considering be how he's turned things around, I'd figure BU would get at least an extra season before the seat really got hot.

Right exactly, and then when the news broke Clark was leaving. NW loss Jan 4, Beard fired Jan 5, Clark leaves Jan 7.

To be clear I don't mean wipe the slate clean like "fire BU", I mean BU would be wondering if his whole team is about to transfer and he's forced to rebuild a whole new roster, given the way it seemed like the team was miserable and hated each other.

So what I mean is that staying at Illinois, in that moment, didn't necessarily look like the stable, low-risk, stay with what's working option for BU. Thankfully that has changed somewhat since then and there seems to be a path to bringing a very strong team back next year.

I doubt Brad leaves for Texas as it’s a cut throat prima Dona school. Nothing is good enough for them. They will try to make a splash like Muss at Ark or Oates at Bama. Brad still has work to do here. He is not happy how this season ended and he believes he can build a consistent winner at Illinois.

Gotcha. I was gonna say, we're hot heads around here, but that'd be a lot. Even for us 😂

Huh? I agree that this season was dysfunction-junction but he still wound up with 20 wins and finished in the top half of a (very weird) Big Ten this year.

Fun Fact: Lou Henson did not win 20 in any of his last 5 years.

EDIT: Oh, okay…I see you clarified your meaning in the other post…

If Rodney Terry doesn't get the full time job at Texas, then something is terribly wrong with college basketball. He has earned it
Because a great Texas team did not take a step back under his watch. His record at UTEP was poor, and he was decent at Fresno state before that. Not sure he has the profile for a program that views itself as top 10. They could lamd a much, much more proven succesfull coach given the $ they will throw around.

I think the question is how far Texas needs to go in order to take the decision out of the AD's hands.

I have them winning it all in my bracket so Go Rodney Terry!

I think it already is if he’s not getting any of his shortlist to be real interested

certainly , if Terry gets them through this weekend to the SS, don’t you have to give him at least 2 more years ?

At some point coaches dont chase offers....see Self, K, and Lou, etc.

Seems that the most "elite" coaches aren't chasing or seriously entertaining offers.

If BU doesn't like what he has here (ref Illini0440 mention BU thinking some Ath Dept stuff is not great),... he will eventually move on,... if not Texas, someone else.

We all love the guy as our coach, but he doesn't have irrefutable loyalty to us yet.
