People with money are trying to tell Brad how to do his job. Brad is hard headed and doesn’t take very kindly to that sort of thing. In the shortest version possible.
Thank you. :)
I wouldn’t like that either.

Meddlesome boosters? Well he won't have to worry about that when he's coaching in the.... [checks notes].....SEC

It really seems like a bizarre match on both sides. Look, Arkansas is a great program/job, but it's absolutely in no way a tier above Illinois; their current success is a testament to Muss' incredible recruiting abilities, IMO. Additionally, I'd argue Arkansas' attractiveness as a job is LESS than its historic accomplishments, whereas I'd argue Illinois' attractiveness is MORE than our historical accomplishments. So, in that regard, it seems like a bizarre move for Brad to me.

On the other hand, as you said, what exactly is in this for Arkansas?! I think BU is an amazing coach, but we did just lose to them in a stinker, and (fairly or unfairly) it helped solidify the narrative that Underwood's teams do not show up in March. They're fresh off of an Elite Eight and heading to a Sweet Sixteen.

This is all just really weird, and I'd be insanely curious to know what exactly Underwood doesn't like about his plush situation at Illinois, if those rumors are even true. And what he thinks will be better at Arkansas, lol.
BU is a known quantity - he resurrected Illinois, he has shown he can hire good assistants and can bring in good recruits. Yeah, he has defecated the bed so far in March, but maybe that's just bad luck?

So, given the choice and given the fact you are Arkansas and not Kansas, would you hire BU or would you hire someone who may possibly have more upside but who is also more of an unknown? Maybe the other guy is the next Bill Self, but more than likely he's the next John Groce.

Sigh, Brad can coach people. Just stop.
NCAA Tourney weirdness notwithstanding, the dude can coach.
Those trying to look at the universe as if this season is the center, are doing it wrong. People that KNOW…like…know…basketball…know Brad can coach.
Yeah we need adjustments. Brad has absolutely proven without any doubt he knows how to make adjustments and change his tack. This was year one-ish of the NIL Free For All Transferpalooza.
Give it a minute.

This season is not the center of the BU or Illinois Basketball universe. It was a meteorite. It crashed on planet Monster Point Guard Slappy Slap Three Point Launchy Launch Don’t Care Shruggy Shoulders.
It was destructive.
Let’s not view it through a microscope.

30 years ago Austin was a weird little hippie town and the University of Texas was part of an all-football-all-the-time hothouse of a conference that didn't really have any vision beyond its own state border. Things have changed a ton down there from the period in which the legacy brands built their traditions. And we're now in an era in college sports where a Texas has the financial resources to not just compete with but swamp a Kansas or Kentucky.

You could even tighten that up a bit to 20 years ago. Used to be just a place for State government, UT, and lots of free-thinkers trying to Keep Austin Weird.

But today, Austin is a world-class city. International flights. A skyline that looks a lot like Dallas. Global tech companies around every corner. People moving there from all over the Country and the World. A City on the rise. And massive traffic jams to prove it. Got their first major pro sports team a couple years ago (FC Austin) that quickly became successful.

And... a general futuristic vibe and expectations of success. Whether or not this translates to the Longhorns remains to be seen. But the seedbed is rich and ready to bloom if they play their cards right.

Yeah, the takeaway is it seems like Brad will be exploring other pastures...at some point in the next couple years
He can explore all he wants, but unless he's willing to move down a level, he won't be leaving anytime soon. Just my opinion. I guess I'm taking a stance here. LOL.

I don’t think Arkansas, Texas or Texas Tech is down a level … They’re pretty lateral moves if we take off the orange tinted glasses …

Texas is up a level IMO …
I hear ya, but as of now, it seems Brad is simply one of many options for Texas. And Arkansas doesn't have an opening (yet, sure ;-). I think Texas Tech is a slight downgrade from Illinois, but I'm a homer. And I think they'd take Tang before Underwood.

Tang wouldn’t take Tech … He’s staying at K State until Drew hangs it up at Baylor I think …

Am I correct insiders that Brad had similar problems at Oklahoma state with there Ad as well?I thought that was what was said at the time when we poached him but could be remembering it incorrectly
