At this point, fair to him or not, all these rumors are souring my previously pretty good impression of Underwood. In all likelihood he'll be our coach for at least 1 more year, and I'll root like hell for him the entire time he's on our sideline. But man, it's amazing how your opinion of a person can change when they haven't so much as opened their mouth (publicly at least). But, given my experience with Illinois football, I'll have forgotten all of this by November and my orange tinted glasses will be back on.

Sigh, Brad can coach people. Just stop.
NCAA Tourney weirdness notwithstanding, the dude can coach.
Those trying to look at the universe as if this season is the center, are doing it wrong. People that KNOW…like…know…basketball…know Brad can coach.
Yeah we need adjustments. Brad has absolutely proven without any doubt he knows how to make adjustments and change his tack. This was year one-ish of the NIL Free For All Transferpalooza.
Give it a minute.

This season is not the center of the BU or Illinois Basketball universe. It was a meteorite. It crashed on planet Monster Point Guard Slappy Slap Three Point Launchy Launch Don’t Care Shruggy Shoulders.
It was destructive.
Let’s not view it through a microscope.

I don’t think Arkansas, Texas or Texas Tech is down a level … They’re pretty lateral moves if we take off the orange tinted glasses …

Texas is up a level IMO …
Texas Tech isn't a lateral move. Lubbock is a complete ***. Nobody in their right mind would move there of their own free will. And I know first hand btw.

This post is brilliant and I need everyone to stop and recognize it. Sheer genius. "planet Monster Point Guard Slappy Slap Three Point Launchy Launch Don’t Care Shruggy Shoulders" is like James Joyce on a message board and probably needs it's own thread for people to argue over it's layers of meaning.

I don’t want to speak for OP, but I interpreted his message as even if Underwood wants a lateral move, he may not get one. Maybe he wouldn’t be the first choice for Arkansas for example.

Half the posters on this site try to tell him what to do.
Yeah, but he won't listen to me.

All joking aside, I don't see any school with a higher pedigree than Illinois wanting BU based upon his actual March results...which are really the ones that people remember. So, his only choices are sideway moves, or worse. Why would he want to do that? Money would be the only reason and I don't think that would be enough for him to make the move.

I respect you know hoops more than I do, but this is how I see it:
- You could make an argument Texas is up a level due to the unparalleled financial resources, period. Point taken.
- You could make an argument Arkansas is about the same, given similar tradition, comparable facilities, comparable fan support and about equal stability in the SEC vs. the Big Ten. However, our instate recruiting footprint is A LOT better. I also think, from what I have seen, our fan support and facilities get a tiny bump over theirs.
- I don't see the argument for Texas Tech at all. Sure, they've been good for a bit ... but I'm not sure what category they outclass us in, and I can think of a few (tradition, facilities, recruiting, conference stability - the last one being most important) where we are clearly better.

Everyone wants Sean … Sean doesn’t want everyone … 😉

That is an encouraging note , if the crap really hits the fan here. I am/was working under the assumption the 3 jobs are "step ups" from the Illinois job, why wouldn't Miller be interested as well?

BU is a known quantity - he resurrected Illinois, he has shown he can hire good assistants and can bring in good recruits. Yeah, he has defecated the bed so far in March, but maybe that's just bad luck?

So, given the choice and given the fact you are Arkansas and not Kansas, would you hire BU or would you hire someone who may possibly have more upside but who is also more of an unknown? Maybe the other guy is the next Bill Self, but more than likely he's the next John Groce.
He can do those thing you mentioned in the first paragraph and that's better than others lately. That said I have not seen him run an effective offense without Kofi on the floor. Watching the ball movement and player movement of other teams vs the amount of dribbling I've seen over the last 4 years is concerning.
I appreciate what he has done but the comments by Barkley and others about our careless ball handling, shot selection and lack of movement are legitimate and ultimately do fall on BU. He has not dealt with them much and without someone like Kofi or a PG like Ayo to cover the flaws it was tough to watch.

People with money are trying to tell Brad how to do his job. Brad is hard headed and doesn’t take very kindly to that sort of thing. In the shortest version possible.
The John Mackovic Experience....all the places Brad wants to go, with perhaps the exception of K State, will make the Illini boosters look like fawns in the woods in comparison. Brad is a good coach, but I would take Miller in a heartbeat over him
