I am all for player agency and empowerment, but it is hard for fans to get to know players and get 2-4 years enjoying watching them play.

I know our feelings should be about the last thing on the player's mind, but its kind of hard to get a know almost an entirely new team each year.

A little disappointed to hear we're going after a player that didn't make 1st or 2nd team All-WAC COVID eligible scoring Guard that is 32.9 % from three, with more turnovers than assists in Division 1. I know we're hurting for guards that can create but that's really underwhelming. The plus is he ended the season on a high-note and played well in the Conference Tournament and NIT. But I hope the intent is just for him to be a Bench guy (in which case, not sure why he'd come for his last year of college to not start).
With all due respect, you'll have to trust Underwood on this one given his track record of bringing in transfers that make a difference going back to Feliz.

It's interesting, doing right by the kids, but it's so bad for the sport from an entertainment/viewer standpoint to see brand new rosters everywhere. This isn't Kentucky where we can all be excited about guys that are at least going to the NBA... and then if the entertainment/viewership dries up, well the NIL money will be right behind it, and the players certainly don't want that...

Hmm.

I don't think they can go back on the "free transfer" rule, that's a case of "once it's out of the box, it can't go back in". People are already chomping at the bit to hate everything the NCAA does.

Gone are the days of the early 2000s where we saw the Peoria pipeline grow up together and then saw Dee/Deron/Luther/Augustine/Powell grow up together. This is unfortunately the new reality of college basketball. That's why I have a lot of respect for Coleman Hawkins. My god, if anyone had a reason to transfer, it was him. And you know what? He's stuck true by Underwood and I believe that he will be back. Loyalty is a fleeting thing in this generation of athletes

TV contracts, team sales, collective bargaining agreements, facility construction, salary caps, long term deals, sponsorships, etc etc etc, you see a lot of big dollar figures thrown around when you follow sports.

The fans are the money. Every last dime. Any sport that forgets that for one second is on a path to trouble.

This makes me curious, I don't think I'd count Feliz actually since he was JuCo, not Portal, but power-ranking the transfers

Supernova Tier, not even fair to rank) Tyler Underwood

1) Terrence Shannon Jr.

2) Alfonso Plummer

3) Jacob Grandison

4) Dain Dainja

5) Matthew Mayer

6) Omar Payne

7) Mark Alstork

8) Austin Hutcherson

Big gap between 5 and 6. Might be a bit of a homer pick to have Dainja over Mayer, but Dainja definitely has potential.

If it ends up being RJ, this is the one transfer I can't put any blame on Underwood. For how bad and for how long RJ played miserably, Underwood did nothing but publicly back the kid. And he continued to show that belief in his playing time as well. If RJ leaves after Underwood bent over backwards to help the kid, it would be mind-blowing to me.
Totally agree. Very disappointing after how the staff stood by him through all his struggles and kept giving him significant playing time and opportunities to get his game back on track. WTF is his thought process?

Now, more than ever, we are all just rooting for laundry...

I'm rooting for Loyalty. I'm rooting for us to have a team take us on a magical ride. I done worrying about which guys get it done. Get me the best players we can get, & I'll get irrationally emotional about their results.

It's all I know.
