There was initial talk of GA getting an opportunity somewhere else. I dont know if that is still the case.

Right. I assumed that domino had to fall first before we could read too much into other tea leaves. But maybe not?

💯 disagree on Chester being ready to captain the ship. BWeber made a run to elite 8 and won a Big12 championship in large part to Chester. As soon as Coach Frazier went VaTech, Bruce was done. He has been a top assistant for what 10+ years? At some point he should be the chosen Coach.
Congratulations to Coach Powell, long over due and good luck!

But he's never captained the ship, and that would worry me. By and large, the top programs don't usually hire guys who haven't yet proved it as a head coach somewhere. One counterexample is Tommy Lloyd at Arizona. I was surprised they hired him without that experience but it seems to have worked out so far.

I think Chester is probably ready to captain  a ship, but not necessarily  this ship quite yet. A sailor's first.command is usually a frigate, not an aircraft carrier.

Here is a point that might be relevant to this discussion. Evidently, the NCAA now allows two non-recruiting assistant coaches? That is my impression, subject to correction. How this might affect a staff shake up is open to speculation.

It's a nice day, so I might go for a walk and smile at a cloud.

There’s also another former AC here that visited during a game this year … He’d be under consideration as well …

If GA takes the WIU job, Bruce Weber is our guy. If TA takes a job, Lon Kruger isn't doing anything. If Chester looks to take a job, Bill Self could retire. That's a hell of a coaching staff.

seems like somebody mentioned a HC job out in northwest like spudsville (Id).............................
