I prefer the Kiwane Garris method where it just sneaks over the front of the rim. It just barely got there and it didn't have enough energy to bounce away if it hit the rim. I always wondered why anyone would do it differently.
Because that is the opposite of what they teach. At basketball camp they taught us your girlfriend prefers you long and not short. You have no chance of an offensive rebound if you miss short.

Did you find it troubling that the coaches at the basketball camp had been discussing such private matters with your girlfriend?

To say...bye?
I’m actually more surprised a walk-on has to enter the portal at all.

Is there a binding agreement they sign with a team just like scholarship players that says nobody can contact them if they aren’t in the portal?

I figured it would be more like “Hey y’all, this low Major or D2 school over here said they want me as their starting SG. PEACE AND LOVE! I’m out.”

Maybe it’s just a way for more coaches to see they are available…¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I actually believe they need to enter the portal in order to talk to other schools . they are on the roster , even as a non scholly player
We will see how soon that particular test case comes up. It's got to be coming soon.

I’m not even remotely sure about this, but that doesn’t seem right. A walk on, by the very definition, is a guy who plays with the team, but doesn’t have a guaranteed roster spot. In theory, Illinois could have a million walk ons who are part of the team, none of which are technically on a roster that would require them to enter the transfer portal.

Paxton warden, for example, could quit school today and have no official ties to the Illinois basketball team. He could enroll tomorrow at, say, Indiana as a regular student and walk on to the Hoosier basketball team with no strings attached.

The best way to market yourself/something, is to say and do nothing at all, right? ;)

Bummed we lose some good walk-ons that I believe were valuable locker room additions as well, but don’t blame them at all for wanting to find a place to play more. Best of luck to both!

agreed...................personal PR and alert all the levels of BB that you are available .....don't blame them at all for moving on for more PT and using the portal to announce your availability.....................

First, I'm pretty sure there is a limit on number of walk-ons.

Second, once you suit up for a team you are subject to eligibility rules. For example if he played in games he burned a year.

I don't understand fully the legality of the portal but if it is "legal" it applies to both categories of players.
