So landing RayJ would most likely eliminate the possibility of Tyger, right? 4 total transfers, so 2 remaining and we obviously need to add another big still. Is Tyger plan A, and if not attainable we take RayJ or just acting on RayJ now so we don’t end up empty handed having neither of them?

I feel like I’m out of the loop, but why would Tyger want to leave UCLA? I can’t imagine UCLA doesn’t have NIL money to spend.

Tyger's affection for Tim Anderson notwithstanding, that has been a totally absurd notion from the moment it was proffered, and our staff would be fools to allow a pipe dream like that to in any way delay or mess with their plan to maximize the talent and fit of next year's team.

It has been stated we have acquired "depth pieces." Who are the height. zenith. peak. pieces we may have a shot at?????

Winners … Get old, stay old …
We had so many situations last year where we were forced to play lineups that had no way to produce buckets.

In this hypothetical future we'd have a lot of lineups out there with Dennis, Shannon and Domask (all very high usage players used to the offense running through their hands) where a lot of individual plays are built around a Dainja post-up. A very different conundrum!

Even with last year's struggles I retain a ton of faith in BU from a "how do these pieces work together on a basketball floor" perspective. In many ways he made last year's team look like less of a mess than it was.

Harmon won't play much assuming good health. Domask has so many odds and ends in his game I can see him adapting to a less ball-heavy focus. Shannon will get his and will benefit from less demand on him to conjure offense in every situation. It's Dennis where I kinda wonder how less of the ball in his hands is gonna work. That guy has very possibly taken more career shots than any returning player in college basketball.

Trust TA to make the right call and push the right buttons … We won’t come out of this empty handed …

It probably wouldn't be proffered if it was a pipe dream. This isn't a fan fiction fantasy, it's obviously been talked about through back channels.

I’m telling you all that there have been conversations … I have known Tyger since he was a freshman in HS … It’s not a done deal by any means but to say it’s a pipe dream is just not true …

TA got him to go to freakin Depaul … You don’t think he could get him to come here ? Come on guys …

I totally agree. I prepare myself to be shocked during portal szn, but this always seemed so outlandish. RayJ (or other) just makes more sense in every way possible.

Unless Shannon and Hawkins go pro and we spend our whole kitty (pun intended!) on him, and maybe not even then, no world exists in which Illinois is anywhere close to the top bidder for Campbell's services, and the idea that an assistant coach he decommitted from during the Obama Administration has such special persuasion ability that he could flip that calculus is, well, a Loyalty-tastic way of looking at college basketball recruiting.

Commit to lol, but point remains.

Having those conversations in a serious and open minded way and then choosing the rational moment to move on to more promising avenues are both signs of the kind of charismatic and intelligent recruiting that the BU administration has been so much better at than their predecessors.

Good jobs done all around.

No slight to TA, but because the truth must be said: No he didn't.

The same Bud Kilmer that lost his team. Sticking to the basics really got him far didn't it? 😂

So we're saying kids do not make decisions to attend schools that make very little sense to those not involved/plugged in? Seems like that happens quite a lot.

Any chance there is less inclination to keep a scholarship open? With the rate of transfers out, even mid season, it seems less necessary to leave one open. Plus injuries. The not-deep bench last season seems like a reasonable warning against leaving any open.

This pipe dream has made its way to the UCLA message boards where they’re presuming Tyger will end up either at Illinois or Oregon… and they’re desperately hoping, of the two, that it’s Illinois.
