Just curious. One of our biggest weaknesses was 3 point %. Do any already in or possible additions actually help this issue?
We had ok shooters last year when they took a good three. RJ never got out of his slump, MM forced it way too often, and Hawkins took some bad step back threes, TSJ had a few good games shooting behind the arc. Based on percentages next year we have better shooters

As long as we take smart threes our percentage will go up. If Hawkins and TSJ come back they need to drive it more and take advantage of the midrange game and let the shooters spread out the defense for them to be effective. I think TSJ and Hawkins can shoot the 3 but they are more dangerous attacking the rim

Not to detract from Tyger mania but any truth to the Kanon Catchings decommitment rumors? And obviously, would we be involved??
I saw him.play Ben Davis in the semi-state game. I wasn't impressed. He would need 2 years in the weight room and an attitude adjustment.

I’m telling you all that there have been conversations … I have known Tyger since he was a freshman in HS … It’s not a done deal by any means but to say it’s a pipe dream is just not true …

TA got him to go to freakin Depaul … You don’t think he could get him to come here ? Come on guys …
Not the one I’m talking about …

Also think it’s Wichita State or Baylor for Max …
Suprised Texas would not be in that mix with Frank Haith joining the Texas staff... apparently Abmas is VERY close with Frank Haith.

I am totally fine with a strategy of "recruit guys who put the ball in the bucket a lot."
I too am for the idea of curating a roster of versatile, skilled players who can score in a multitude of ways and contribute to offense in other ways. Lord knows we will need all the help we can get with scoring with the second unit as it currently stands.

Could you imagine if we were getting some football nugs as well? Illinois basketball definitely gets my juices flowing and I'm just not sure how to handle success in football. I'm willing to try though.

Defense is important but what separates Tyger as an asset is that he's an elite facilitator for others on offense who has been battle tested extensively in major conferences. A point guard in the old school meaning of the term. A floor general.

RayJ is a very gifted dribble drive guy and a willing passer so he creates a lot of situations where everybody can eat and it was a feast at the mid-major level.

Campbell's been cracking open the locks of the Dana Altman's and Tommy Lloyd's of the world with NBA guys who are way longer and more athletic than he is for years. Players like that have become exceedingly rare in college basketball.

UCLA has lost their mind if they refuse to match an offer.
I agree that Tyger is a difference maker and with your points. It does not seem it has come down to an NIL match per say. Just Mick going in a different direction at that spot. Tyger has given all he has to UCLA might just be time to move on.
