At this point you have to be trolling. No one in their right mind would ever even consider paying an undersized guard, who can’t play defense or run an offense, and has attitude issues more money than a first team all conference player that led us in scoring… that is beyond absurd.
Suppose you could guarantee 3 years of Epps. I completely understand that you cannot guarantee that, but just for the sake of argument suppose that you can.

Are 3 years of Epps more valuable than 1 year of Shannon in your opinion?

You can’t just add a guarantee that is far from guaranteed. Everyone on this board, including you, have said that the transfer rule have changed how loyal players are to teams, and that every year teams are expected to refill their rosters and have roster turnover. That is ESPECIALLY true when talking about a player that has very clear attitude problems.

Even IF you could guarantee it, Epps is still an undersized guard that can’t run an offense which in todays game is 1000% necessary for an undersized guard. And he can’t. Play. Defense. I would happily take one year of TSJ coming back and being the leader the insiders have said he has started to become so far this off season, along with an actual PG to play alongside him to get him the ball in his spots, than a 6’1 guard that can’t play the point well, can’t guard anyone, and cries when he gets called out for it.

Suppose you could guarantee 3 times of winning the Illinois Lottery. I completely understand that you cannot guarantee that, but just for the sake of argument suppose that you can.

Are 3 times winning the Illinois Lottery better than 1 Powerball jackpot in your opinion?

So, "no" in other words.

I don't agree with that. I think more of Epps than you do.

And this thread has been full of conversation about how NIL might be used as some sort of leverage to keep a player at a school. Obviously we don't have that today, but I feel like pulling the two conversations together (how valuable are future seasons and how do you contractually incentivize them?) will be an area coaches and the folks that run NIL collectives pursue in the future.

If what was said about Epps not running a play after working on it for an hour is true, then it would be 3 losing scratcher tickets vs. a winning Powerball jackpot.

Oh, and with that jackpot, I can buy a Tyger and put on a show (like vegas style, not a circus)

True it has, but that kinda goes back to your original point when you stated you’d pay Epps more than TSJ to try and outbid Georgetown.

And I still find that absurd. Risking losing your best player to pay another player who underperformed in 80% of his position’s jobs, just to MAYBE keep him all 4 years where he MAYBE becomes a better all around player is crazy. And nothing is stopping him from transferring the next year, or are you gonna offer him even MORE money after that?

Patience is a young man's game. Ain't got time for that. I could get hit by a truck tomorrow.

Ah the internet, whose binary nature seems to prevent users ability to accept that 2 facts can be true at the same time. Recent examples:
Epps had decent success, has even more potential, and will likely develop into a very nice player (Why we're pissed he didn't work out here)
and
Epps was put in a bad position as a Fr, wasn't up to the task defensively (which is why he got schooled a lot at that end), and turned out to not be as coachable as needed (Why coach didn't see his $ demands lining up with his value)

or
DGL is an exciting player who is motivated to prove the doubters wrong by earning court time (Why we recruited him)
and
DGL is undersized (bulk) to play D in this league and hasn't had to play much D (did his league this year even play D?) who will be playing for a coach who has just watched 2 Fr PGs flame out by being pushed into the fire before they were ready (He's not going to watch that movie a 3rd time)
