Yeah I agree. Needs reps in the field too, pretty weak in that aspect of his game.

What kinda baffles me is bringing Motter back. Why not call up Yepez?
The only thing I get out of Motter being back up is he doesn't need the reps every game. Don't think they want the young guys up just sitting and playing every 3-4 days.

Wishful thinking on my end there will be a trade but seems way to early for usual Cardinals moves lol

Offense is sputtering along and he is instant offense. Yepez is one of those guys where his position was locked up by studs. Something to keep an eye on this season is Yepez has only played DH/OF in AAA so far.

Not saying even this season but....best case scenario I am hoping for is Gorman can grow into 2B over time and Yepez can DH more down the road while playing OF at times. Rotate Gorman/Yepez at DH and in the field

^This. They mentioned on the broadcast tonight that of the 19 hits that Walker has so far, 13 of them are singles. He hadn't played in AAA before so send him down to work on stuff and hopefully he can learn how to elevate the ball more. And he must have wanted to really get after it as he was on one of the first flights out of San Fran to join Memphis.

Yeah he was getting some pretty impressive exit velocities but hitting them on the ground. His ground ball rate is 58.5% (MLB average is 44.8%) and his fly ball rate is just 17.0%. (MLB avg. 23.1%). When you hit the ball 100+ mph in the air it's gone. When you hit it 100+ mph in the ground it's a single or out. If he can make these adjustments at AAA I think we'll see him back up soon enough. Last year Gorman got sent back down for a stretch to get more regular playing time and it seems to have done him a lot of good.

Not sure if being sent back down or his off-season prep but Gorman looks like a different hitter (in my few chances to see him). Definitely made some adjustments and had to cut down on # of swing and misses. last year 103k's and 28bb So far this year 23k's and 11bb.

Mo sucks. Dewitt needs to sell. Marmol in over his head
I gotta agree with you on that. If he thought this pitching staff had potential I should have been hired. If Marmol is letting Contreras call the pitches then maybe he needs to get Yadi and add him to the staff pronto! Actually glad YouTube tv doesn't include Bally.

Just a reminder for everyone that tonight's game is only on Apple TV+.

I’m not an A/V tech guy and I have no idea what Apple does, but the video they get for their baseball games is amazing. It’s like watching the game through a perfectly clean glass window. If you have the means to do so, I’d definitely check a game out on their streaming service.

Kershaw making the redbirds look like little leaguer's........Perfect game through 4 innings.....12 up , 12 down.....

50 pitches , 43 strikes..........I don't think the Cardinals have barreled up a pitch while at bat yet.........Cardinals looking like a bottom of a division team....

Sad news out of St. Louis today:

Hopefully some of you are having a cold frosty one today in his honor.
Saw him play in person many times as a young man, must have listened to several thousand broadcasts by him. I remember a bench clearing brawl by both teams against the Mets in St. Louis at a game I attended as a lad. Mike grabbed Dal Maxwell, our shortstop who was wafer thin, and threw him behintd him. Mike was a large man and had been the starting QB for Mizzou. All of the Mets looked for someone else, no approached Mike lol. Most people at Mizzou felt he had a better future in football, but baseball was his passion.

Semi-facetiously, though you'll never see it, but I would like to see DeWitt make Mo the manager when Marmol is bounced. Matheny, Schildt, Marmol, all his choices dong his bidding analytically. (Do you really think they have much, if any, autonomy. ) Never seems to be his head on the block.
