Goldschmidt is the main asset the Cardinals have that would net a major asset that could contribute as soon as next year. You’d look at trading Goldschmidt for a young starting pitcher with 4+ years of control and then sign a FA 1B like Rhys Hoskins for less than Goldschmidt was scheduled to make.

It depends what the Cardinals mindset is for the future. If they want to tear it down I have no problem trading Goldy. Fans also need to realize if we trade Goldy and bring up Walker/Winn next season full time for example they will have growing pains just like this season with the guys we already have.

I already mentioned if they want to rebuild than that is the only way I see them trading him

You put to compete. Cardinals are more times than not in the race for the playoffs. Yeah they have run out of gas lately. Wainwright had a real good last season and got burnt out the last month. Team that gets hot at the right time takes it. Doubt many had the Phillies winning it all last season. Goal is to win the World Series of course...Cardinals just rebuild instead of tearing it down so far.

There are inconsistencies with Mo evaluating talent. The top talent on this team is through trade/FA. You have to draft guys and have them produce...we are lacking in that field.

We differ in a lot of things....that is fine

You feel that way. I feel like in 2021 when we won 17 straight games in September and finally lost a few in the last week of the season before the playoffs we had a legit shot.

Something I've always wondered with Cardinals fans is whether they'd still show up if a team did a rebuild similar to what the Astros, White Sox, and Cubs did. While I'm sure the true diehards would still be there, I think you'd see a precipitous drop in the fairweather/frontrunner fans.

Around 40% of the crowd is from out of town non-locals when it all averages out. I think the numbers would go down. Same time I look for a good amount of the tickets to sell it would just be if some of the seats are empty. Ton of things to do at Ballpark Village, etc that money is being made even if the seats are empty. Know some have a beef with owners and they will always make money(that is the point of any business). I give the owners props as well with like 90% of the stadium being privately funded and also have put I think around $250 million into the areas outside of the stadium so far.

Tickets prices are cheap, restaurants and bars downtown, etc. I live in the area and went to a game this weekend and had a blast win or lose. I love the Cardinals but not a diehard I have to be at the stadium for every game person. I have season tickets for the Blues so have to pick my battles.lol

I don't think they would ever hit an issue on tickets sold. Actual attendance maybe. Too many corporate tickets already purchased and just given away.

I heard it was because he actually wasn't originally in the movie but added later. Very underrated baseball announcer movie role. Every time I hear Bob Uecker for the Brewers, I expect him to say more funny stuff, but he is pretty straight laced and professional in his real job.

Just read about this and yeah it sounds like that's what it was. He wasn't originally in the movie but happened to be walking by the set one day and asked Daniel Stern if he could play a small role. The studio initially wanted Joe Pesci to play either Gary Busey's role or what ended up being John Candy's role but Stern thought there'd be too many comparisons between this movie and Home Alone. Stern felt that because Candy had such a small role in Home Alone, that his small role in Rookie of the Year wouldn't draw as many comparisons between the two films.
