I’m not convinced of this, especially in Coleman’s absence. Seems more like it was covering options with best available, then when Quincy came along he was too good to pass on, which left us done until Hawkins/TJ leave. I think if either leaves, the spot goes to a center if possibleBut BU seems to not think we need another real center, even in Hawkins' absence, and I just think he's wrong.
jesus christ guys
It's an acquired taste?I've never blocked anyone on here but this comment may change that, Steve.
Malort tastes like grandma's perfume was filtered through a Chicago dumpster on Saturday night and collected in a dirty gym sock before being wrung out into a shot glass made of regret.
I'm not saying I never drink it. But I'm a chronic self-saboteur and would rather not be reminded of that while imbibing in some late afternoon Loyalty escapism.
To bring this back around to the proper topic, I've grown to detest this new era of recruiting, but as fluids go, recruiting tastes at least 100x better than Malort.

There are lots of good roasters all over the country. I suggest finding one local to you and supporting them.
Otherwise, I agree. Black coffee.
The best description I’ve heard of Malort is “Drinking it feels like kicking your mouth in the balls.”Malort is good stuff.

I understand what you're saying about malort, but you really haven't died 'till you've had moutai. It's a Chinese liquor made from sorghum and the flavored with noxious herbs, It sells for hundreds of dollars, and the Chinese serve it at banquets, throwing shots down, to prove how wealthy the hosts are.The best description I’ve heard of Malort is “Drinking it feels like kicking your mouth in the balls.”
Exactly my point!
These forecasters are writers. As fans we have we tend to be optimistic. However historically when was the last time our guys have been drafted in the slots writers expect? They are usually wrong and they have been selected much lower if at all. Unless they were lottery picks like Meyers who was picked as expected. I would put very little weight in what these services say. They are not intune with guys overs seas like NBA scouts and elsewhere and are generating clicks. Based on history I wouldn't count on them being correct.I know our Insiders are pointing towards TSJ and CH returning, but I am wondering what kind of draft position might make them change their minds?
Just curious, as CBS latest ranking have TSJ at 43 and CH at 49 in their Top 60. ESPN 39 and 46. The Ringer TSJ 39, (they only rank through 40). The Sporting News 43 & 53.
I think you're correct in assessing the writers as not being experts. But since Meyers we really haven't had anyone except Ayo show up in mock drafts. So our guys really haven't been overestimated. These forecasters are writers. As fans we have we tend to be optimistic. His wording is odd. It almost sounds like he's not done playing college basketball but he's done at Northwestern. That
That was how I read it as well. His wording is odd. It almost sounds like he's not done playing college basketball but he's done at Northwestern.
Well Brandon Paul was projected around were these guys are. In some mocks Kofi had projections of being selected. Kofi clearly thought he would. Ayo was projected higher than where he was selected. I don't recall if Malcolm or where former Illini Kendrick were projected. Or about Demetri who was all B10 who was prior to that. Historically it seems these services are wrong more than they are right and guys go lower than expected and not just our beloved. There are just so many players overseas and probably over 100 various guys in all these 2nd round mocks and there aren't that many spots so most fall. Its very unpredictable after the lottery picks what teams may do. I think if they knew they would be picked at 40 they would be gone. Given the shooting issues and other areas of improvement needed id take the sure fire NIL money like Timme, Oscar did and I expect TSJ and Edy to. Hopefully Hawkins gets really good sound advice if he does roll the dice and stay in the draft. If he does I hope these writers are correct.I think you're correct in assessing the writers as not being experts. But since Meyers we really haven't had anyone except Ayo show up in mock drafts. But that doesn't really go to the original question which is what position in the draft would keep guys in the draft. I'd have to say that at this point, if you go in the second round, go for it. My quick review of last year's second round shows that every college player got minutes in the league. That's your dream, and a second round selection likely gets you there.
The problem is that it's highly unlikely you'll get that guarantee. Maybe the Nets tell you that they'll take you in the second round if you fall that far, but it's not likely going to be a guarantee because they want to keep their options open for players who unexpectedly drop.
Both these guys have the combine to help them sort things out and hopefully both make good decisions.
I believe each are weighing not only where they feel they would get drafted but the money side of the equation. NIL vs rookie 2nd round money. They will also look at what teams would pick in that area and see if they are a fit. Both Hawk and TJ have tough decisions. It’s not easy and I can understand why it’s taking a while to decide. Both are closer to getting to the NBA. Let’s hope they make the right decision for themselves.I know our Insiders are pointing towards TSJ and CH returning, but I am wondering what kind of draft position might make them change their minds?

50 years ago today...... His word was good - and Coach Bridges had all the reason in the world to smile when Sikma chose the Titans over the late charging Illini.

Omar Payne is Exhibit A of a big man that seemed to fit a need but in reality was not a valuable commodity.Exactly my point!
If a back to the basket true big man pivot is a valuable commodity for the kind of basketball we want to play (and I believe it is) you need to keep that pipeline flowing.
Brad keeps saying "we're not going to have another Kofi, we need to change how we play", and yet we're obviously much better with and increasingly focused around our most Kofi-like player. That's an important insight!
Hawkins does many things well (including protect the rim in center-like ways) and has a lot of flexibility and we want him here if we can have him. If we can't, we need to keep stocking the cupboard in the "big ogre" position. We should have done so already, frankly.
You mean like throwing them down on the ground???? or the more traditional throwing em down
I would like to announce my transfer before the deadline. The cottage cheese conversation was a bridge too far. As a lactose intolerant American, I felt it was cruel, gut curdling, and entirely off-putting. I will be transferring to Illini Inquirer where I can cuss freely and have no pressure of making a cogent point.
