I didn't say it wasn't a miss or that it didn't turn out to bite us in the butt. I'm saying there was no way to predict what happened and that people should stop acting like Brad or the entire coaching staff should have seen it coming.
Ah gotcha, sounds like we generally agree then! Like you said, unfortunate that this happened but every program has this happen. Great coaches, like BU, don't let these situations affect their program and still go out and get great talent. We are in good hands.

to date with Underwood as coach - only Podz has shown significant improvement after Leaving Illinois
Miller, Cubelo, Grandison, BBV, Payne, Hamlin haven't been trail blazers....
Jury still out on Epps, RJ,

the additions have been far greater than the subtractions.

Coming into the season we had:

Skyy - 1
Epps - 1/2
Harris - Defensive energy guy at 1/2
TSJ - 2
Melendez - 2/3 (projected to be the next Kris Murray)
Goode - 3/4
Rodgers - 3/4

That doesn't leave a lot of room for a guy hungry for minutes. How can you account for the following:

Skyy quitting mid season
Epps having to move to the 1 to cover
Harris getting extended minutes because Epps is now our 1
Goode getting hurt for 80% of the season
Melendez falling inexplicably short of expectations, possibly due to a shoulder injury

In hindsight, Podz could have been the man that we were missing, but you can't project all that happened to this team when you need to choose between a former top 10 PG and a guy that was a major liability in practice (according to insiders). Maybe Brad said, Podz, we want you to stay at a reduced role, and he decided to go elsewhere.

A whole lot of speculation and revisionist history from a whole lot of people who know little to nothing. I was bummed Podz left, I thought he could be a guy. Glad he went out and made it himself.

Please stop. We don't need to continue to discuss it. I'd rather talk about the differences between low-fat cottage cheese vs whole milk cottage cheese than listen to idiots continue to look in the past and criticize when we all would have taken Skyy at the time.

Unfortunately for all of us, that won't stop people from claiming BU erred in bringing in those players in the first place.

So for those of you keeping score at home:
(1) When a player improves after leaving Illinois, BU screwed up and should have done more to spotlight/retain them.
(2) When a player does the same or worse after leaving Illinois, BU wasted a scholarship on them and should have recruited better.

All that, and you didn't even include Meyer as another 3/4.

anything worth reporting? i caught it right when CH came out and his backup puts up 10pts in 2 min
I didn’t see much from CoHawk. He‘s back in. Saw Podz hit one three. CH setting lots of screens and just had a steal. Podz just had a very good assist.

Does anyone really think if Podz at the end of his freshman year was playing like he is now playing BU would not move heaven and earth to keep him?

Podz has been slow at times on defense thus far, but offensively he's been shining as a facilitator who can shoot and will pull down some boards as well. He's being rewarded it looks like with some extra tick right now- his team definitely is playing a lot better with him on the court.

On the other hand, CoHawk really hasn't gotten himself much in the game- teammates really haven't gotten him involved and he just got a quick pull for Vukcevic. Probably not the showing he wants thus far.

He should have played? Based off what? This past season at Santa Clara? not how it works. If you watched practice while he was here and saw the multitude of defensive lapses, scouting report errors and even offensive lapses you'd understand why he didn't. Also to say he should have been playing over Monte is very laughable.

Well, Podz looks pretty darn good almost immediately after leaving if what your saying is true. It seems your implying he only developed only after he left and was player of the year along with Drew Timme in his conference. If that is what your suggesting that is not good to imply. Podz was clearly better than many thought. That didn't happen overnight! He didn't go from being a bench warmer behind players you mentioned to being co player of the year with a 1st team All American and then drafted without being darn good to start with. Clearly when given an opportunity he thrived. Its only been a year since he left Illinois and now he is likely to be selected in NBA draft before any Illini. If he only improved after he left then thats not a good look! It most certainly is not laughable to think he had and has more talent. I think he had ability here and you clearly dont. We can disagree. We certainly needed his shooting. To suggest he only got better after he left to become that type of player if the year is a stretch. If so that's not good he developed so fast elsewhere. I believe he got better here too he just didnt play. I am a die hard Illini fan and have been for years but I won't ignore the player Podz was and is almost immediately after leaving the Illini. He deserves credit. He praised learning from Trent. I hope we don't lose players that are getting drafted! I am happy for him and I do wish he had played and stayed. I feel we could gave used him on the court. You can have your opinion and I can have mine. NBA scouts can too. I appreciate all our players. I even appreciate your post 440. Like I said I trust BU but everyone makes mistakes. You can love sports, teams, and people but they aren't perfect. Also, have what ever thoughts you want. We can disagree and I won't call your thoughts laughable. Its all good. I just want to get, develop, and keep the best players when can as much as possible.
And in recruiting competitions, teams will use Podz as an example against us.
