Sounds great, as long as [bolded above] correlates very highly with [in an attempt to win games for the Illini]. Often last season we seemed to have guys who were trying to accomplish the first bolded statement but it had little to do with the second.

I guess that's Brad and the staff's responsiblity to make sure they align.

Honestly this is Illinois basketball....get used to it and you'll do better...

Maybe Ray J just "discovered" that we had Frazier, a bona fide starting big Ten POINT GUARD on the staff, who could teach him a thing or two about the non-scoring parts of being a big time point guard! Who does Utah have to match THAT?

Been following this for weeks. A month ago I was really hoping RayJ would come to Illnois. At this point I would prefer that we get a different point guard, who wants to play for Illinois. It doesn't appear that he does. In my opinion Illinois is too good to have to beg a kid to play here. Team dynamics are important and if he is only coming to collect a check, I think we are better off with someone who will consider it a privilege to play on a great team (of course, getting paid a good amount to do so). Frustrating!

Agree! And this cannot be good for team chemistry when you have guys working their butts off this summer because they want to be here and then your paying a kid tons of money and you really have no idea if he will be a flop or not in the Big 10!

Wish that these teachings got to Skyy last season. You can only coach those who are coachable. Now, I never heard of RayJ prior to this off-season, but if he does come here, hopefully he's open to being coached and not bent on getting shots up. Then, it's last season all over again. Hopefully, his intent and #1 priority would be to run the offense.

Between NIL and the portal college basketball has been ruined and it is out of control. Token will not help team chemistry! We have no idea if Ray Jay Dennis will produce and you are giving him thousands! And people wonder why last year was such a mess!
