Not a lot of insider optimism on us landing mulcahy. At least not yet.

He’s the kind of kid you bring in and feel a million times better about missing on Rayj. Borderline must get guy.

I just don’t by Rodgers being a major PG factor.

Can't remember the last time a big name like this entered the portal this late. Any idea of a timeline?
I can see this becoming the new norm for Grad Transfers.

1. The portal has been closed for those who are not Grad Transfers.
2. The deadline to withdraw from the NBA Draft has come and gone.
3. The amount of quality prospects in the portal is small.
4. There are a number of teams who missed out on prospects they were chasing.
5. You can create a bidding war for your services!

Mulcahy leaving doesn’t have anything to do with NIL … He likes Pikiell … Pretty much everyone does …
Agree with most then- seems like this will be a more difficult one for us to win as NIL is probably one of our bigger draws. Hoping it goes our way obviously, but seems our expectations should be fairly low, especially if the draw for a grad degree at say Duke or Notre Dame is there, or he wants to choose the school with the best chance to get a Natty.

Nobody is must get.
We are already better than last year's train wreck.
Agree Rodgers is in no way a PG.

That said I hope they are doing everything they can to get Williams eligible and healthy.

I think Coach Shrews at Notre Dame will be hard to beat, and a desperate UK is a tough candidate. Hopefully, he wants to go out with a top 15 team, and chooses the Beloved Illini. It makes so much sense that it worries me - Illini fan angst.

Uh, Shrewsbury coached Penn State, not Rutgers.

That said, I have zero confidence Illinois will land him. I'm hoping Williams is healthy enough to start the season (and gets his transfer waiver).

I feel like we have the best combo of all major factors:

1. Playing time
2. Contender
3. NIL

I have a feeling it'll be ND. Shrewsbury is on a role and will continue to kill us even when he's not in the big ten 😂

Shrews is licking his chops..Paul is probably as close as you can get to a Pickett.

I mean, agreed. No one ever is a must get. As long as you have 5 warm bodies you can play basketball. Wasn’t the point. Must get if you want to actually upgrade your PG position at this point in the transfer cycle.

I can’t imagine a staff, who just had a guy coming off a knee injury at the same position fail to deliver, would be content with Williams being a major player at PG this year.

Out of curiosity, haven’t worked through potential implications…are coaches or other highly compensated university employees allowed to contribute to NIL as private citizens?

Wouldn’t bank on that
Then they better get Harmon admitted.
He is really just a backup at PG but better than Rodgers.

If they don't, then, yes, we are in trouble.
Going to have to then just find another scoring guard and roll the dice.

Mulcahy is probably a better fit on this roster than RayJ. We don’t need a ball dominant PG, we need someone who can run a team, play hard, and play defense. He checks all the boxes & is the perfect fit.

Mulcahy
Shannon
Domask
Hawkins
Dainja
___________
Williams*
Harris
Goode
Rodgers
Gurrier
Hansberry

That’s 11 guys who can play. When was the last time we could legitimately say that? This isn’t a potential group, not a work in progress group, not a young group, not an inexperienced group…..

This is a group that should contend for a F4.

Get Paul.

jersey shore yeah buddy GIF

Starting job - On. A. Platter.
NIL - a big bag of it, with the name RayJ crossed out on it
Championship potential- well, most have us #20-25 with one-legged, potentially ineligible point guard. So we’d move up to top-ten range, right?
Agreed. Speculating we'd fall between 10-15 pre-season.
