Epps was promising early. Until he wasn't. I still marvel at the chutzpah of a true-frosh guard assigned to PG refusing to run the plays the coach calls. SMH. I recall the Maryland game Dec 2nd when BU gave him the deciding shot (missed) from three in front of his family. From that vote of confidence to the sideline ugliness in Bloomington in Feb.

Conflict (and the wear and tear of a long season) clarifies.
I thought that shot was designed for Mayer and Epps just took it?

as a point guard?
Epps will be a high scorer at Georgetown, which many people consider stardom.

But he’s short, he’s not a point guard, and at least for now, he’s bad at defense and seems resistant to coaching.
As a volume scoring combo, true, not as the kind of true point facilitator we would be best with.

But as a winner, not just an empty points-getter. The sour grapes about the disappointing and ugly way things shook out with him here have curdled into a plainly incorrect analysis of his potential as a basketball player.

Lots of adds to the ignore list today. I swear anytime there's something halfway positive (or even just the potential to be positive, as in this scenario today) all of the Debbie Downers come out in droves.

I’m not sure about a star… maybe, who knows? I think he is going to be a very solid player though just as he would have been if he had stayed here. Count me as more curious about his departure rather than sour.

I get it’s a little more complicated and difficult than this, but you whiff massively on your only target at your position of greatest need. Zero true backup plan. Now, you’ve got a decent plan B guy enter the portal who’s a proven P6 starter at that position.

If you don’t fully push for this and full court press this as hard as you can, you’re becoming complacent. That’s the absolute worst place to be in college athletics.

And you have the correct analysis?
Most here acknowledge he had some decent offensive skills at times and had a nice scoring mindset.
Did not add much else and his shooting from 3 really went downhill.
Weak defender.

I think he will be a productive 2 guard for sure. I have no idea what was going on with him and BU, but it was not good either way.

He needed to move on. Good luck to him.

NIL isn't the only factor for Mulcahy, but it's a top factor. I'm not sure Illinois would go all-in with that and may prefer to wait on Reeves.

Optimism is strictly forbidden on this board

How did this become an Epps bashing thread?

I have to imagine the staff will be all in on Mulcahy- while there may be other grad transfers that graduate and become available this summer, none will be a better fit than Mulcahy - he would be a huge lift to our prospects this year

and not Nebraska
The name on the degree seems to matter less and less tbh.
Unless you’re talking an Ivy League Law degree or an MIT engineering degree.
A comms degree from ND or Duke is hardly different from IL

Mulcahy is a grad transfer
