Sure, there are a lot of positives as BU said. BUT point guard was our most glaring of needs. So much so we're being mocked conference wide for our lack of PG (source, Ant Wright's humorous locked player tweet). Sure, we might have a lead guard in Shannon, a point forward in Ty, and CoHawk doing CoHawk things, but is that enough to get us deep in the tournament?

Yeah, yeah, yeah winningest stretch in the B1G over the last 4 season (hell yeah), 2* regular season titles (take that Fichigan), and a conference tournament championship (thanks Ayo), but the lack of a Sweet 16 is wearing my personal patience thin. Does that mean BU needs to have his seat warmer if no tournament run this year, I'm leaning towards a solid maybe, especially if he was sniffing around for other jobs after the 2022-2023 season.

But if PG is the main reason we struggle this year or don't make a tournament run, that blame will be placed squarely on Brad. As a BU stan, it's put up or shut up time. Get us to the Sweet 16 and end this horrible streak that has lasted a generation.
Brad’s seat should not be warm. A big ten title or 2 + big tournament, that is crazy from where we were when he got here. Yeah disappointing NCAA run, but last years roster rebuild has carried into this years. We missed on Dennis, with some luck and chemistry we could have been really special this year, don’t blame him for taking his shot and not settling. Williams would be nice backup, giving us something more than a 1 yr rental. Many teams are struggling with turnover, it’s a new world out there. We will be better than last year, even at pg (in hindsight), assuming Williams doesn’t bomb out with outside issues. I gotta believe staff is confident they get the waiver. Think the Achilles is probably more a question of how far it will be back.

Can you imagine Kofi's body with Dee's speed? Borderline terrifying.
Can you imagine Larry Bird but with Usain Bolt's speed?

If that’s good enough for you..great…so be it.

If you were told you'd have 2 conference titles, a 1 seed, several NBA bound players, winning 20+ games several times just 6 short years ago you're kidding yourself if you say it's not good enough. Not to mention dealing with COVID, NIL, the new portal, turnover in staff, injuries/suspensions (let's not forget Trent, DaMonte, Goode, and others have been hurt and Kofi was suspended to start one season), etc. Coach has done a heck of a job turning this thing around. Now let's keep stacking up 20 win seasons, competing for the conference titles, and get to the second weekend and beyond. I said this in an earlier post, are we just supposed to start over? That's terrible thinking. Let Coach build on what he's already built. Go Illini!

If the rumors are true Brad reached out to programs this offseason, after all of the accomplishments we have both listed over the last half decade are true, I don't know about your touch barometer, but that's a bad touch for me. He has done a lot of good things here and to reach out in sincerity or to garner an extension looks like sour grapes, especially after getting an extension somewhat recently.

I'm rooting for Williams, but I'm not banking on him contributing this year due to the injury. Body By Fletch can only do so much. We will see how the waiver dust settles as that's a crapshoot, too. Eh, I don't know, Greensboro, I'm not ruling out a special year this year. I have high hopes in CoHawk doing improved CoHawk things, but this lack of a known, on the roster, PG really bothers me.

PG is concerning. Williams when we added him was ok primarily since he has 3 years left. Hopefully he will be healthy. Skill wise he should be fine but likely not as good it seems as some we passed on by putting all our eggs in one basket. Live and learn and hope it works out. You still never know who could come or go or what could change in the next few weeks. Last year Goode was due to be a big part of the team and was hurt in the KU scrimmage. We could add Reeves, Paul even though not likely, or who knows, Dre could be freshman of the year. Hell RJ could go in the firstvround next year after a year as a Bulldog. I hope we add a pg but we may already have what we need. I hope so.

So MSU should have fired Izzo for finishing 7th in 20/21 - out in first four & 8th in 21/22 - out in 2nd.

Crap happens, not about being good enough, it is about where you are headed. We’ve been a tier 1 team the last 3 years, had to replace an all American and a couple super seniors and lost a couple of point guards in Curbelo & Clark that very few would have predicted anything but greatness. We restock with some good seniors 2 years in a row and everyone gives up because we shoot for the best of out there and miss. You don’t hit a hr every at bat, but glad we swung for the fences. 2nd round would be nice, but BU was shooting at a shot for more. Way too premature to talk about hot seats

Terrible take to compare msu to us, especially izzo. Nobody said hit a hr every time. Just a double would be nice in the NCAA tourney. I personally think brad has some wiggle room before the seat gets warm but it ain't ice cold. The big ten success equity won't protect him forever without the tourney success.

Just stopped in to clarify my DGL weight post in the last recruiting thread. One of our insiders (can't remember) had posted something a month or so ago saying DGL wasn't 165 and probably wouldn't see the floor. Maybe it was sarcasm...but I was under the impression he was much too slight to be effective based on those comments. Again, I could have totally misread those comments too.

For reference, Trent was listed at 170 as a freshman. I am 100% all for seeing a 165-170lb DGL surprised the sh$t out of all of us!

But that’s what we’re saying dude, hot seat talk now is ridiculous. If we have year after year like hit past one then yeah get rid of him but now it is just dumb

The narrative has been we passed on pgs but that feels exaggerated. I suspect we just didn’t push hard for others, not that any was about to commit and we said no.
