I'm just don't understand how we went from all in on a point gaurd RJD, offering him a sweet deal with the keys to the Lamborghini who ended up just stringing us along and going elsewhere. Then we get Williams as a potential backup plan which falls thru to now we are good with what we got. Are we really not going to go after a veteran point gaurd? Doesn't make any sense to me but it's not my decisionto make. I just hope it works out for us this time around.
So the plan was to bring in Harmon, Domask, Guerrier, and RayJ. That would have been 4 super Srs to go with Shannon, and we know Coleman wants to go pro.
That's a lot of experience, but a giant hole in your roster the next year. I would have been much happier had we taken someone like Mike Mitchell Jr instead of one of the wings and told him, you are the backup PG, but will also get some minutes at the 2. We're looking to bring in another guy to start at PG, but he's a 5th year guy and you'll start next season.
So whether he actually starts next year, who knows, that's the gamble the player needs to take. Can you pull something like that off for a guy that can start at other P6 schools? Will bringing in a quality guy make it so RayJ just says no, who knows? But to me, we need more than 1 PG on the roster. We need a young PG that can develop in the system. Had we taken a younger PG, and everything plays out as it did and we miss on RayJ, ok our plan fell apart, but at least we have someone used to playing PG on the roster. We can still scramble to get another guy, but we're not staring at a hole, plus we've got someone with time to master the system.
