I feel bad for RJ. In my mind, he's a sensitive type, and maybe some gruff, big-ego personalities got in his head and he couldn't deal. I recall the fearless joy he (and Luke) seemed to be exuding against Houston, and compare it to his way of being last season, and it's like night and day.

I'm really rooting for him, and I think he's gonna be a really good player in the SEC (provided UGA has the right personalities around him).

(This could all be totally wrong and he might have been a huge jerk, I have no idea.)

Well, you define it as a face up four as opposed to say a volume rebounding 4.

If your 5 is Kofi I'd pick Deon, Snake, Downey, Spoon, and EJ ahead of Cook at the 4.
I looked at Deon, Snake, Spoon and Eddie. All of them seemed to need to play close to the basket.** Combined with Kofi, that would allow some defensive lane packing. Maybe it would work. I'm skeptical that it would be better, even if the individual player was better. Kofi didn't have great interior passing skills. Current basketball results seem to show that 4 3pt threats who can pass works better. It really opens up the center and lanes. Whether or not you agree with my call of wanting a stretch 4, can you name a better stretch 4 than Cook?

As per my initial post, I only chose from players I've seen (late 70s onward). That eliminated Downey.

** For those who played for IL pre college 3pt, I looked at their NBA stats to see if they had 3pt range. While not an ideal comparison, it was the best I found.

For those wondering about the includion of Ayo, please look at my prior post giving stat lines for the PG/SG/SF positions. Decide which ones you want. The spoiler section says who goes with each stat line.

Eddie Johnson basically played the 4 in college. There was no three point shot then, but he displayed that skill in the NBA. If you want a stretch 4, he could play the role.

Bogie Redman was a stretch four 35 years before the position was invented.
Eddie's career 3pt NBA numbers were not good (33% by a basketball-reference). He had some really good years and many not so good ones. The NBA 3pt line is 4' further back than the initial NCAA 3pt line, so the NBA numbers aren't really a fair comparison. Maybe he was really good at 20' vs. 24'. If so, yeah, he'd be a strong stretch 4 choice.

Probably our best stretch 4 if you need them to go out to the three point line.

Disagree with the need to go with that. If you've got a tandem like Kofi and Deon you'd dominate boards and your all star wings would have all the necessary scoring.

"I think just the guys here, we just click. I mean that, all the guys they brought in, they're good human beings. And I feel like some of the guys we had last year weren't."

So is it possible, even likely that — now hear me out on this — maybe possibly Brad knows what he’s doing and has assembled a solid team after having learned a few things from last year?

Honestly after hearing Ty talk about it I'm buying in more. I still think there is some shooting limitations with having him and Harris or Dainja or the court.

However, I think Shannon, Domask, Goode, Rodgers, and Coleman could be a deadly lineup offensive with a ton of length on defense. I also think Harmon will be a lot bigger contributor than most people realize.

At the end of the day we have Shannon, Domask, Goode, Rodgers, Coleman, Guerrier, and Harmon already which is a 7 man deep rotation full of a ton of experience and proven ability outside of Rodgers(he did flash as a freshman though). Plus you still have Harris and Dainja with proven roles with Harris as a defensive stopper and Dainja providing some interior scoring which already takes you to 9 deep. Then you have a pretty good freshman class with Hansberry(Top 50-70 recruit), DGL (borderline top 100) and Moretti(deadly shooter).

All together that is a very deep team with a ton of experience. 9 deep before you even get to freshman.

Do this year’s transfers, both those who were recruited and those who were not (to the anguish of many on this board) indicate BU has learned some lessons from the Mark Smith, Clark and Epps experiences? Can those lessons ever be truly learned when a great talent who is also a potential cancer is available?
