If there is a silver lining, the commitment is a lot less likely to stick if it's Miami vs a relatively local powerhouse
One thing about Mario Cristobal teams is that they never live up to expectations and personally I hope he gets away from Cristobal before his growth as a player is permanently stunted.

You think they are recruiting better than us?

While most would agree the rankings services aren't perfect, there's enough evidence to suggest there is some correlation with high rankings and performance. And, all objective services have their class better than ours by a pretty decent amount. It seems likely we end up with no consensus 4* recruits. So, while we can b very excited with the talent/depth of the class, at this point, Walters seems to be outrecruiting us

On paper it looks like it and I’m not saying they’ll be able to coach em better than coach B, but you can’t deny they hit the ground running hard with a whole new coaching staff. JMHO

the history of Chicago area players, going to schools like the U, USC, UCLA and the like, and not doing well , is well known as not good.

Best wishes for him unless they play us.
I believe this won't be over until signing day (and not just for us either)
Something tells me it wont work out for him there
That something is named Mario Cristobal. The guy is an inverse Ferentz, he takes five stars and turns them into two and three stars and he has a Brian Ferentz offensive mentality to boot. Ask an Oregon fan (or heck a few Miami fans). For his sake, he needs to decommit ASAP or transfer when he get his max amount of NIL moolah.

Miami may have the highest paying NIL program in NCAA. Throw in South Beach and they can really recruit. Its only one article but Illinois did not make top 20.

...Ruiz has allocated $10 million to spend on compensating student-athletes because he wants the Hurricanes to win. He has worked to sign more than 110 active Miami athletes to marketing deals to promote two of his companies, LifeWallet and Cigarette Racing. Nijel Pack, who recently transferred from Kansas State, agreed to a LifeWallet deal that will give him $800,000 total over two years....

Read some articles before he committed to Miami that were stating that they were coming in strong so had a feeling this was going to happen. We aren’t going to give up on this though.

I feel like the football recruiting equivalent to basketball’s “he didn’t fit the system” or “we really didn’t want him” is we aren’t giving up on this one

When you are facing a program that is self destructive as me around the opposite sex you should never give up.

hmmm ... LifeWallet that couldn't make its bond payments and had to negotiate to defer and "revealed in an April 14 filing that it had identified "material weaknesses in internal controls" in its accounting. The resulting errors were significant enough that the company told investors they could no longer rely on its financial statements ranging from June 30, 2022, to September 30, 2022." over promised purchase of receivables as scalable. Investors are not too happy with Ruiz spending their money on athletes when he cant pay bond interest. didn't think he would be allowed to continue signing LifeWallet deals

Miami spends a lot on NIL in prep recruiting. Makes a lot of sense considering this was a last second close by them.
