I don't think Paul Sullivan has a ton of credibility, he barely even follows college sports. And then, he barely even covers any thing but baseball.

Agree that this combo was bad, but they've now permanently(?) separated them and use the cat as a secondary and it actually works pretty well. Trying to think of another instance of that happening and coming up blank.

Why would you want this?

I do think you're right that they're going to start playing the B1G title game at the Rose Bowl.

But as a by then meaningless exhibition between two teams comfortably in the 12-team playoff in a much larger venue very far away from almost all of the conference members, I seriously doubt they would be able to sustain anywhere near full attendance.

That's nowhere near as fun as seeing 3,000 glum Californians wearing the heaviest parkas ever produced for retail sale trudging into Lucas Oil Stadium in 40 degree weather.

Except for geography, it makes a certain amount of sense. Can't see the school joining the Mountain West, and being an independent may be too difficult, schedule-wise.

how do you end the season with 3 divisions? I would imagine it would be just an east and west. Winner of each division plays in the championship game. if we get to 20 or 24 teams, I think then you will get 4 smaller division, so an East/West with 2 groups each, but then you just have to have a 2 week Championship

Conferences don't exist. The NCAA doesn't exist in any meaningful sense. Only two forces that mean anything exist in college football: Fox and ESPN.

1. Sure puts a lot more travel burden on the midwest West schools. No different than that already on the Pac-West schools, but a lot less than anyone in the East division. Fair?

2. Permanent home game for USC or UCLA for the B10 championship? No thanks. Alternate Rose Bowl with a domed stadium around here (say Arlington Heights or Indy) and I can get on board.

Oh, sure, but enshrining the legitimacy of the CFP selection process is way, way more important to the value of the enterprise than smuggling in an unworthy team for one game.

That has been the focus from day 1. And for all I complain about everything, they have done a pretty steady, consistent, clear job of it. It's almost like the Federal Reserve or something, their moves are foreseeable and predictable so as not to spook the markets.

(The BCS, trapped by poll voters beyond their control, plus the computer rankings which were beyond what the public could digest in those days, got stuck with a couple of very clearly wrong early selections, which left it doomed from the start. The CFP committee exists to correct for that. They meet in private and choose the outcome that's best for the institution of the CFP, and what's good for the institution of the CFP is good for ESPN and coming soon Fox.)

I got back to finishing a presentation for work and after a while a somewhat comparable (though weaker) example occurred to me: Oregon's '80s logo v now.

They still use the mascot logo separately after disintegrating the old logo. That clean "O" logo and typeface has stayed fresh since they introduced it around 2000 (?). I'm not a big fan of the current duck mascot logo. He looks lobotomized compared with ragin' Donald. (The royalties to Disney got too steep?!)

Back in the '70s-'90s their helmets had a linked green UO on yellow. Kinda dug those old-school unis. Reminded me of the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos.

And, no, I'm not (that) off-topic. They're part of the family now. ;) I completely forgot that Bobby Moore (Ahmad Rashad) played there. I always thought he was from Oregon State.
