Sample size 1, yes. Still something to beat you chest about when no one schedules you. At least compared to our peers that get 2 or 3 P5 money games a season.

Toledos worst season in its 107 year history was the 3-9 season they still beat Michigan... so both were bad. we were 26 pt underdogs.

I said for "
decades," for lack of chances it hasnt been lately sadly. Scheduling by our last AD is finally materializing as we have Kentucky 3 more times, MSU (rescheduled covid year), and Maryland coming up along with Illinois this year.

Miami won 10 games both seasons we played em and had both games close late in the 3rd quarter. Lost to ND on the final drive. Were tied with
8 or 9 win Kentucky team at half when our QB was knocked out in the 1st drive of the 2nd half. Both Mizzou teams won the SEC East in 2013 and 2014 when we played em. Lots of bad luck playing P5 teams when they were up that led to losses.

When Illinois was scheduled this was an automatic win in my mind. Sucks that yall are respectable now. I want Indiana or NW to run over... They won't have us.
Are you by chance related to "ThaKid" ?

I never imagined the Toledo pregame thread 10 days out would be anything other than mildly drowsy. Yet here we are. ;)
I haven't been this excited in the offseason for an Illini football season since I want to say, '02. I think it's warranted. Obviously, here's hoping we start out much hotter and faster than that team, that the fans are given something real to believe in, and have it carry us to all the way to a West Division Title and a rematch against Michigan where this time, we don't give them the chance to have the refs bail them out.

Dayton's been a long time lurker, but he's not from Ohio, just deluded about Timmy Lasagna.
Haha, I was more just being funny. Either way, I am not sure how one could still be optimistic about Beckman when he was eventually fired, even with ethical issues aside. I CERTAINLY do not know how anybody could not be happy that things worked out the way they did (as far as the program is concerned, anyway) to get Bret, either!

Gary Moeller would like a word with you. Truly a misunderstood diamond in the rough he was whilst prowling the Memorial Stadium sidelines. A veritable Bill Belichick during his tenure with the Browns.

Toledo is no pushover but it all depends on the fanbase. That is one take....my take is Illinois will face the level of Toledo or better most weeks. Toledo will hope to bring their "A game" against Illinois because the rest of the schedule is cupcake city. If Illinois stays disciplined they take this game over. Just never know being week 1 and getting the rust off.
Teams like Toledo always bring the A++++ game, it's big feather in the cap if they whack a major like Illini. These teams all seem to have a super incentive to play hard.
