Just saw on Twitter, Cubs have to go 8-24 the rest of the way to match Fangraph’s pre-season expected win total.
For what it’s worth, I think Fangraph’s metrics have a hard time with high contact, high ground ball pitchers with an elite defense behind them, and that’s basically the Cubs entire staff. If you look back at FG’s preseason predictions for Cubs pitchers, they thought every single one would post an ERA significantly worse than their career norm.

There’s no way Giolito will make it to the Cubs - every AL team and every NL team with a worse record than the Cubs will have priority - but if he did, they’d HAVE to claim him, right?
