Well, coach Henry I hope so! You've had time to know all your returning players on D! You've had months to look at game tape and game plan. You have the job, the money, and you are more than qualified! Play to your players strength, not opposing Offense! I have always coached to my players strength not my system. Make adjustments and let your men attack. Identifying your culture on defense and its established with literally 10 Men who played a ton last year. Go get em. If you lose we will support you as long as we take a piece of them with us to locker room. 💯 Illini and Coach Henry.

So when he called his high school eighth grade play with Griffin Moore on third and 2 on their side of the field. And it's only 14-0, and we're moving the ball. He called that a play. They practice for 8 months that Griffin had executed it. Awesome, in practice against our defense. And they had Kansas had 7 on the line of scrimmage and Mike linebacker 3 yards from our center on third and 2. And he called that play he couldn't call time out?

Kudos to the reporter for guiding Coach Lunney to that question. Finally some serious questions for a serious sport, that we put love, support, money, and time. See you all Saturday at 8am.. Both my son's here local and 1 from Texas Ranger are coming Friday and we will be there early. Go Illini!

I love what Coach B said in media for game. He did say different offense now etc. Coach B, Luke Altymer leads team in rushing attempts and yards. But Love and McCray are averaging 5 yards per carry. Feeding the running backs. Not NFL and their not gonna catch 5 to 8 passes per game out of back field. Let's Go and upset the top 10 college world!

As is always the case, my optimism and enthusiasm will build as we approach game time. Do I have a lot of confidence after what we have seen so far? No, but it could honestly be that KU is legit and our defense will "click" this game and start to figure it out ... give it our best shot, and go for a shocker.

And while I really wanted to be able to see the Big Noon Kickoff stage in Grange Grove, it's still an amazing opportunity for our program, and it should be one of our better atmospheres in a long time still. And I'll say this ... the last time a top 10 team came to Champaign, we were 28.5-point underdogs and won. Only 37,363 were on hand to watch that miracle vs. Wisconsin, and I am quite confident our crowd will look a heck of a lot better than that!! Let's see what happens. We still need as many people as possible in Memorial Stadium, so I hope enough of our fans keep the faith!

The line started at Penn State -15.5 and now has moved to Penn State -14. That means people are putting money 💰 on the Illini!!!

The biggest difference imo in the first 2 games has been fast, quick qbs. This team is different and I fully expect our defense to make us proud. I predict a close game.

And they all need to wear Orange for our Orange Out. I've got guests coming who have never been to an Illini Football game and they have the message loud and clear. NO OTHER COLOR CLOTHING WILL BE ALLOWED.

Feels like the sloppier this game gets the better our chances will be. If we get behind early it will be more of the same.

Lunney, Henry(especially Henry) let your guys loose. I want to see them just flying around out there.... leave it all on the field.

It’s been two weeks, I’ve barely watched any college football outside of our games, and I’m already sick of hearing about Deion Sanders.
I was hoping for them/him to fail this season but if you haven’t watched them play, you should. Shadur Sanders and Travis Hunter and truly special players. That being said it’s definitely a pile of crap that they pulled the game from the fans and community with 6 days notice. It’s not like we are 0-2

They have also played by far the best offenses
And we are about to play another great team! With that said ... it's game three with our backs against the wall. If we are a quality defense team, we should ALSO being capable of having better-than-our-average games, and this is when we need it. I think it's "gut check" time, which has got to transcend the matchup on paper if we are going to have a decent season.

JMO, of course, but the motivation should be through the roof. Crowd/environment that will be significantly better than we are used to in Champaign, top 10 opponent, one of the best national TV slots of the weekend, a "turning point" game for momentum, PLENTY of doubters, etc. I am hoping against hope that we come out with intensity!

After spending last week convinced we were going to smoke Kansas, I can’t let myself get sucked in again. I don’t see any scenario that we win this game let alone cover a 14 point spread. I hate to say it, but:

My biggest remaining hope for attendance is that during the summer, this DID look like one of the coolest Illini home games to attend in several years (likely since Zook was here, honestly), so I am hopeful that a lot of out-of-town fans simply picked it as a weekend trip to Champaign and will therefore still show ... that certainly describes my wife and me!

I just hope the DIA still tries to promote the heck out of this thing and make sure Grange Grove is poppin'. Big Noon Kickoff pregame show or not, I'm sure there will still be aerial footage of Grange Grove and Memorial Stadium on that broadcast, as we ARE still the game at 11:00 am CST on FOX. Huge opportunity to showcase our gameday environment, which - unfortunately - is currently an afterthought in the college football world. Time to change that! I'm certainly excited to get on the road Friday.
