Gus Johnson , born in a hyperbolic chamber , is the master of the hyperbole with an elevated screech vocal level and an inflated opinion of his eliteness...........if I wasn't already gonna listen to Brian B. and Martin O'Donnell I would mute the sound and listen to some tunes rather than hear his incessant goings on,,,,,,I really really would.....................
I mute the TV most games, regardless of the announcer. Somehow it greatly reduces my stress level as I don't hear the crowd reacting to another bonehead penalty or giving up a 10 play, 94 yard drive TD.

I did not get to watch our Illini against Kansas, probably good for my blood pressure. I did go and look at our team stats through 2 games: I'll make this short.
1. We are 22% on 3rd down conversions, 4-18. Ugly, last season we were 44% for the whole season.
2. We are getting Thumped on time of possession, last year rocked it against most teams.
3. You all will hate this tidbit!
Toledo ran 83 offensive plays and Kansas 76. I quite frankly don't know how we are not 0-2.
4. Luke, our Qb is our leading rusher.

Let go coaches, get to work and players if you gonna get beat. Atleast take a pound of flesh from the other team. In other words, PLEASE BE THE MORE PHYSICAL TEAM.

I understand the disappointment for not getting a pre game show to Champaign. However they weren’t coming because of us. They were coming because it is PSU

Now I am interested in how the team responds. Who steps up and takes control of the locker room. Who do the other players respect. Some of the players I expected probably can’t tell themselves they played their best. What adjustments do the coaches make

The biggest thing I like to see is open the play book for Luke at the beginning

I don't agree with that. I honestly think we were getting some respect last year for our play and being a good story. And I also think there was a universe where we come out 2-0 behind a strong physical defense and have pundits talking about how highly ranked PSU is on upset alert against the rejuvenated nasty Illini D that brings the 'Paign to Champaign. Where we get to play the role of the Cinderella media darlings in one of if not THE game of the week. It was a decent wager in my opinion of trying to get a high end week 3 matchup. So overall, I don't agree with you that we originally got the game of the week only due to PSU, I think it's because this was genuinely viewed as a possible great game with a real chance at being live at a location where a Top 10 team gets upset in an instant classic thriller.

I am watching the Kansas game on EspnU. OMG, gotta turn it off. Why oh why are our Corners 10 yards off wide outs every darn snap? Are they that bad? And what happened to our Edge men/ Outside Line backers. They are absolutely lost the first 2 games. Press coverage inside shoulder protect Db's and simplify the darn scheme. Holy moly we look slow and confused.
Back to Penn St..
Please 🙏 in the name of football God's. Let's not make their Qb look like John Elway or Jalen Hurts. Make a choice Coaches!!!
Take away the run or the pass, but pick 1 for goodness!
Oh heck No!
On 3rd and 7 Luke gets a intentional head shot and Kansas was doubling outside receivers, So where is our TE running up the middle of the wide open field? There wasn't one. Now Kansas is in 2 TE set money. I have my concerns about Coach Lunney, I wanna believe. Truly 😆 🤣

Look at the schedule for this upcoming week
Tennessee vs Florida (probably where game day thought they were going)
LSU vs Mississippi St
KSU vs Mizzou
Minnesota vs UNC
UW vs MSU on Peacock

All power 5 teams playing each other who have more recent success than us and will probably all pack stadiums. Unfortunately for Fox they don’t have rights to any of those games.

Texas vs Wyoming is a game that could be interesting based on the season so far but is on Longhorn Network

Fox probably had a choice between our game and UW vs MSU or Syracuse and Purdue. PSU fans would have been pissed if they had 2 games in a row on peacock. So it was either going to be us or PU at noon. I am not sure which network gets first choice. But Fox really didn’t have good options this week. That is probably why they announced it so early

With that said our game against PSU will be PSU first road game and conference game. It will be our first conference game in and we are in a division that we can win. Don’t get mad about some pre game showing up. Pack Memorial Stadium and get good national exposure because i don’t think CU vs CSU will be a good game and people probably will turn our game on if it is close or we are winning

1. School I work at lost our primary rivalry game screwed by the refs. AD got apology phone call from head of officials.

2. Illini lose

3. Texas wins

4. Bears lose

5. Packers win

6. Cowboys win

Football gods very angry this week.

Oh, and just like dickie v, I love Gus Johnson too.
Well, at least Miles Osei's Kankakee team beat Thornridge 81-0. Scored 61 points in the 1st quarter.

I share your frustration and embarrassment, but I think you need a bit of a reality check. Our own fans haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet to support the team so don’t expect any entitlements from the national audience. We aren’t even close to a sellout for PSU game, and that’s with the FOX courtesy giving us months to hype the game.

Focus should be on getting a single sellout before we expect any meaningful national attention.
Fair, but I don't think I'm being realistic ... have they EVER dipped out on a place seven days before? Again, I get the CU hype ... my main issue is, why announce the location so far in advance? There is a (very, very good) reason College Gameday waits until the week of so they go where they want and don't feel like they are screwing someone over.

With that said, it is what it is. It will still nice to be broadcasted on FOX, and if our attendance can even match the Toledo game, it should still be one of our better atmospheres in years. It will be a huge uphill battle, but damn ... these guys shouldn't be lacking for ANY motivation!

Eh, let's not be TOO hard on ourselves here ... they could have gone to PSU's away games anywhere, or even better yet to State College. After our season last year and what looked like a solid returning defensive core, this DID seem like an intriguing matchup for Week 3. We obviously didn't hold up our end of the bargain, but we were hardly playing the part that CSU is this weekend in Boulder. There was something compelling about a resurgent Illinois program in front of (what would have been and still could be) an uncharacteristically loud/big crowd for Champaign and seeing if we could keep the momentum rolling or take a step back.

Alas, doesn't matter. Let's shock PSU.

Well, after watching this 1st half against Kansas, maybe 5 plays that put us in a bad hole. We are not that far off. If Coaches clean up whatever they are doing and players cut out silly penalties. Please in the name of football warrior Chief Illiniwek! 1 maybe 2 TE's commitment to the run game and TE passes in middle. Will open up entire field.
I have faith 💯
